EMIR OF KANO'S VISIT : Ilorin people have a unique identity -Waziri Gobir The Waziri Karsa-Hausa, Waziri Yakubu Gobir has declared that the people of Ilorin have a unique identity, describing the city as a home for many ethnic groups. Waziri made this remark during the reception of the Emir of Kano, His Eminence Alh. Aminu Ado Bayero at the palace of the Emir of Ilorin Alh. (Dr) Ibrahim Zulu Gambari. Waziri who was part of the Emirate delegation that received the Emir of Kano at the Ilorin International Airport, said there is no confusion about the identity of Ilorin people, saying Ilorin is the identity of the Ilorin people. He further said Ilorin is a unique community with solid relationship with the North and South, and that Ilorin indigenes can comfortably become title holders and even traditional rulers in most part of the country. He described the relationship between the Emir of Kano, Alh. Aminu Ado Bayero and the Ilorin Emirate as a family relationship which is significant to the unity and peaceful coexistence of the country. He said the Emir’s visit to Ilorin, his maternal home, is a great step in boosting the relationship that exist between his family and the Ilorin Emirate, and also to build synergy on various issues of common interest: He urged leaders in the country to strengthen the unity among citizens and increase efforts in fighting the scourge of poverty which he said is a major challenge facing Nigeria and particularly Northern Nigeria. |

Why are certain ninnies in Nigeria would readily say who is Igbo or not, yet cannot stake a claim on Afonja's land? Ilorin is added to the list of places known as No-Man's Land. |

Dedetwo:Speaking of misplaced priorities. Someone that is house is on fire is trying to pull down another person's fence. They are more interested in Igbo affairs than their own. The truth is that an average yoruba man can list at least 20 Igbo towns in but can barely list 10 yoruba villages in South West apart from the ones in his state of origin |
