Assa community is one of the major oil and gas bearing communities in Ohaji-Egbema LGA of Imo State, but in this community things you can find are abandoned projects by NDDC, from Electrification to Town Hall all abandoned.

Nigeria House of Representative Committee on Niger Delta Affairs can tour Ohaji communities to see things for themselves, right from Obitti, Awarra, Assa to Obile communities there's no presence of governance, no basic amenities.

These communities have not seen the presence of Electricity since the creation of Earth and they are bearing communities that made Imo State to be Oil bearing state. This is injustice and it's unfair the way my people are being treated.

Its time to probe our Niger Delta brothers leading the NDDC that have steadily received accumulated trillions of Naira to develop the Niger Delta for 20 years since 2001 but have spent humongous monies on irrelevancies, diverted monies and have left 12,000 uncompleted projects in their wake, an achievement which should enter the Guinness Book of Records.

For me as a Nigerian whose mother hails from the Niger Delta and who had lived 11 years of my life in the Niger Delta, it is unfortunate that it's a Northern presidency that just instituted an audit into the affairs of the NDDC last year after 19 years of the NDDC existence. It's unfortunate that when our Niger Delta brother was in the presidency, he never instituted a probe or audit into the affairs of the NDDC or even cared that money meant for development of the region was being stolen, mismanaged or diverted.

The Niger Delta governors have been collecting 13% derivation asides from their regular allocation for 21 years since 1999 but have left the Niger Delta states in a despicable state.

Niger Delta people....your development lies in their bellies, their bank accounts or in their landed properties and Investments.

It's time to hold our leaders accountable - Local Govt Chairman, NDDC, State & Federal Representatives, Governors, Federal Government.
