please my brother's wife is coming to USA to have baby with Visiting Visa. I want to know if this is possible and what are the likely questions to be asked at the POE? Can she come with her B1 b2 visa and have baby in the United states? Thank you for your response. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by Nobody: 7:04am On Nov 20, 2014 |
keepmegoing: Yes she can. When did she get her Visa? Was she pregnant during the interview? She should do some research, get a Dr, Hospital and the total cost involved before she leaves Naija. She should send an email to the Embassy informing them of her birthing intentions and stating she can foot her bills without recourse to Government funds. Let her travel, armed the Dr/Hospital's email correspondence, the cost breakdown of birthing with the hospital/Dr and other associated costs like epidural, Paediatrician, Aneasthesiologist etc, the email from the embassy giving her a go ahead and enough cash to cover all her expected expenditure and miscellaneous. Hope this helps. 1 Like |

my wife applied few months ago to accompany me on a visit to usa {was on official assignment, and cudnt book our visa interview together], so she went 1 day after mine, well she was denied..VO said she isnt my wife, n didnt bother to see the marriage cert+introductory letter from my place of work, part of the confusion i think is that her passport still bears her maiden name.which if the VO agreed to look at her marriage cert/introduction letter it would hv been cleared, now i want her 2 reapply next yr, and to avoid any confusion, we intend to get her a new passport bearing her marital name {we intend to get a new passport as the change of name procedure for maiden passport is tedious and can only be done in abuja...] note: she has uae and 1 african country visa in the old passport....wch we will looose if we get a new passport so pls i want to know if there is any advice the good house can give me....thanks |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m): 10:41am On Nov 20, 2014 |
shithapuns: She will have to apply with her current passport bearing her maiden name to clear the negative notion that she's not your wife. And you must attend the interview with her taking along your marriage documents and bank transaction details between you and her since before and after your marriage. You're dealing with a serious case here. For now, do not change to a new passport under any circumstance unless it's about expiring or it has expired. |

I have a valid visit visa which I got last 4 months, I got 2 years multiple and I have been to the USA just once spending just 7 days on my visit. Now my wife and 2 kids are desirin to apply for visa also. There is a wedding we intend to attend in Ohio, a family friends wedding. I got my own visa on the platform of the same wedding but it was the elder brother of the person doing wedding that time and now, his younger brrother is gettng married in june next year.what are their chances ? I mean what are the chances of my wife and kids getting the visa approved ? The guy that is getting married is a USA citizen, he currently works in UK, his wife is a USA citizen currently in the USA. Secondly, can we use hotel reservation ? Or is it a must that we must get a letter of invitation from him inviting us form the wedding ? Already we have the wedding invitation card. |

@tzetzefly..thanks!!!...so i can accompany her to the visa interview?..i thought entry is allowed only to those who have appointments?....or i need to formally inform the embassy that i am coming with her?...... |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m): 1:48pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
shithapuns: Not at all, i felt your visa has elapsed that was my reason for stating you attend the interview with her. Since that is not the case, she can only go along with your Travel document and other documents i mentioned earlier. 2 Likes |

tayoamos: Having been credible in your first entry for the same purpose, i guess you can pass. Your wife and kids can be issued visa only at the discretion of the CO. He/she can decide to use them as your tie to Nigeria by refusing their application. |

Yea. That will surely raise an eyebrow. Many people in your shoes get denied cos the VOs feel if your sibling can abuse his visa, so can you. You still can get your visa approved by showing sufficient ties to your country and a reason you won't do same thing your brother did. Thank you for your reply. Do u think i should tell them i've been working for 2yr after graduation or a yr after service. |

Re: Usa Visit Visa by shithapuns: 8:47pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
shithapuns: BUT SINce they refused to look at any document the last time, why would they look at the same documents this time?...cos she went with all those documents, they refused to look at it.....they simply told her after asking several questions ranging from our wedding date, to my birth day, that the name they hv on file {for my wife] isnt hers!.......n when she asked them, they refused to tell her the name they hv on file!......i have never been married/nor involved in any visa/travel scam, so that makes me believe the VO might hv been confused with the maiden name/ marital name issue................ n remembering their usual language..SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN CIRCUMSTANCES b4 reapplying.............thats why i feel her reapplying with a new passport bearing her marital name might be the right approach........ pls dont take this that am arguing.i just want to paint a clear picture for the house to advise me rightly...thanks |

Pls people. I got a B1/B2 visa to go for a training but unfortunately my company just cancelled the training. Can I still travel to the US with my visa? What are my chances at POE? Do I tell them at POE i am there for the training? Thanks guys. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m): 7:24am On Nov 21, 2014 |
shithapuns: There is no such thing as a mistake on a maiden name. A column for maiden name for spouse is well indicated on the DS-160. The CO's know this situation quite well as applicable to Nigerians. It is not a standing rule to adopt your husband's name, it is an optional decision. Is either you'd applied sometime in the past with such entries as being married and with the help of an agent, or a very un-usual error of a mistaken identity. Maybe there's something you are not telling us here. You alone can know this. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m): 7:35am On Nov 21, 2014 |
marrychoy: You can still travel to the States with your visa but try to make a print out of your cancelled conference and embark on such trips after the conference date. Have a sufficient fund and cogent reason for trying to enter the States at that time. Some CBP officers can be extensively overzealous and can turn you back over flimsy reasons. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by shithapuns: 9:36am On Nov 21, 2014 |
@tzetzefly...thanks i hate visa agents with a passion..have never used them in all of my visa applications...........apart from when i went to uae {u know how u pay for visa in nigeria and get the visa stamp in uae] this is a faceless forum, so dont have any reason to hide anyhting. so pls advice me.....bearing in mind all i hv explained. you think we shud get a passport bearing her marital name...or stick with the old passport with her maiden name {with only uae + african countries visa} |

I thought the embassy had technical issues on the 17th and 18th cos all interview were cancelled on the those days in Lagos |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m): 12:17pm On Nov 21, 2014 |
shithapuns: If sincerely you have been true to not using fraudulent or shortcuts to securing your visa to the States, then the next CO should be objective and fair to your spouse's attention. She also need to be bold during the next interview or she may still be suspected of hiding something. All in all, her current passport is what she must present to follow consistency. 1 Like |

@marrychoy, be advised not to claim an event you are not likely going to partake in. You will be surprised on that fateful day, when the CBP officer will enter your details on his/her system or make that phone call to confirm your claimed attendance at a cancelled conference. |
