Charles Adeyinka Adisa, professor of surgery and surgical oncologist at the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, Aba, says colon cancer is that the second leading cancer affecting males in Nigeria.
While noting that prostate is that the favorite cancer affecting men in Nigeria, the oncologist noted that the prevalence of carcinoma(colon cancer) is additionally high because it is found in many males in Nigeria.
Prof. Adisa who disclosed this that while the bulk of cases are found in older people, there has been an increase in carcinoma(colon cancer) cases among younger people in recent years.
It might be recalled that Chadwick Boseman, star of the groundbreaking superhero movie “Black Panther,” recently died aged 43 after a four-year fight with carcinoma(colon cancer) .
Adisa said colon cancers are malignant tumours that arise from the massive bowel or large intestines.
