The effort against advanced internet fraud has yielded another positive
result
- EFCC said it has arrested 13 suspected Yahoo boys in Lagos state
- The arrest was made barely two weeks after 9 fraudsters were nabbed
in Niger state The Nigerian anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has announced the arrest of 13 people suspected to internet fraudsters popularly known as "Yahoo boys." EFCC made this disclosure on Friday, September 4, through its Twitter page, saying the suspected fraudsters were nabbed in Lagos state. The commission further revealed that the fraudsters were arrested following intelligence report around the Alagbado axis of the southwest state. It gave the names of the fraudster as Olowosoke Temidire; Oladoyin Tolulope; Adeyemi Toyese Jubril; Agbeluyi Olusola; Olayinka Azeez; Abdullahi Olalekan. Others are Gbenga Ade; Nwokeso Innocent; Obodoukwu Godstime; Mba Emmanuel; Oluwadare Ibisiola, Damilola Ogunsemire and Christopher Ubong. The fraudsters have been paraded at the EFCC Lagos zonal office and will be charged to court upon the end of the investigation. Earlier, the agency reported that it nabbed nine suspected internet fraudsters in Minna, Niger state. EFCC made this known in a statement on Friday, August 21, adding that the suspects were apprehended following "volunteered intelligence by concerned residents of the area. It added that the suspects were picked up by the operatives of the Commission at their hideouts in Room 202, Seftec Hotels, behind NNPC’s mega petrol filling station, Minna, Niger state, for their alleged involvement in a love scam and other internet-related crimes. Items recovered from the suspects by the commission's Abuja zonal office operatives include one Toyota Venza, different laptops and exotic phones.
