Letter to the Nigerian Clergies by Ojo Busuyi-Jobus Dear CLERGIES, WHAT CAN YOUR GOD CANNOT DO/IS THERE STILL BALM IN GILEAD?- Jeremiah 8:22 Nigeria is undoubtedly the most blessed country in Africa ,endowed with different kinds of natural and human resources, it's not Jolof rice that we would argue over and this is why Nigerians always have issues with true indigenes in strange lands even in counterpart African countries. We are so much talented in all ramifications that one could ever imagine, even our clergymen are on point and if not for them in this country,I don't know what would have become of this nation by now. In fact, our entertainment industry is the envy of the world and no foreign artiste is fulfilled without dedicating a song or an album with the Nigerian flavour or style of music most times by featuring Nigerian artistes which makes Nigeria a centre-piece of Africa's socio-economic life. To start my points, firstly, I want to ask this question... can a Babalawo or a traditional priest be referred to as a clergyman? This is the time we need everybody to start calling upon God on behalf of this country Nigeria, everybody must go back and cry to God for help. Anyways, without wasting much of our time on this , however where we are headed on this issue is no other than the reality that the central power of our country lies in the hands of the government and that is why everyone is affected by the actions and inactions of the government and this cannot be disconnected from a certain African proverb of Yoruba origin which says " Elders cannot be in a market and watch a baby awkwardly strapped by the mother" Which means an elder is expected to put things in order. This is to say that Elders go to the source, look for the foundation of any problem and start the healings from there. Exodus 3:9-10, When the government of Egypt frustrated the Israelites, they cried unto God and God sent Moses to deliver them, our Moses now are the clergies. It was however recorded that Moses did not criticise or condemn the Egyptian government but he went to seek the face of the Lord on what must be done. Therefore to this end, I believe the clergies and all spiritual personnel know better that if a man is doing something contrary to the will of God or progress of a nation, such person is being pushed by some forces and the best way to heal such person is to go to the source of the problems like prophet Elisha who goes down to the source of the bitter Marah water to heal it.-2 Kings 2:19-22. Our people do say that" no matter the long a rope is, it must definitely have a source". Sirs, have you asked God what the problems and the solutions of our land, our nation? I believe if you ask, it shall be given unto you- Mathew 7:7 David always asked God for directions and he always win. Clergymen sir, I challenge you in the name of God to war and win the principalities in high places and corridors of power alongside their warring insurgents in the North because He who live in you is bigger than he that rules the Aso Rock and remember we overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of our testimony not by lamentations. I would advise you to stop blasting the government verbally but blasting the powers driving them with your full spiritual arsenal until they eventually become "Goners". I want you to remember Prophet Elijah who slew fifty (50) Baal prophets and I am quite sure if Prophet Elijah were to be a Nigerian prophet and still alive in a time like this, the nation would have been better off since independence by all standards and equations. There is nothing bad if you leave a landmark before you go,so that we can always refer to your God just like we refer to the God of Prophet Elijah or won't you be glad to hear people praying in your God's name even when you are gone? If we see a weaned child growing up without walking till such child gets to sixty years,we would pray for miracles to happen for the child to walk on his feet and it would happen as we desire it but have we prayed for a nation that was birthed sixty years ago and still crawling among the committee of nations? By October 1, 2020 Nigeria will be sixty (60) years old yet there has not been any positive change and the only thing that can bring the change is miracle through the prayer of the saints." Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord"-James 5:14-15. The question now is "Are the elders who are the spiritual leaders praying the prayer of faith? If yes, what is hindering the prayer? In conclusion, to the Pastors, Reverends, Prophets, Imams, Quran scholars and other spiritualists I can't mention,if what I have said hits you hard, I am very sorry and promise to say what you wish if there's a positive change in our dear nation. Men of God in the two religions should be in the spirit anytime election is coming up to put the God's chosen in power and always ask God for directions before contesting and entering political contracts. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."- Ephesians 6:12. If we are not looking up to God through the clergies, through who then, if the clergies are not making efforts to stop all the national mess, who will? I suggest you take your stand as spiritual warlords and end all the evils roaming and killing the present and futures of our people, thank you and God bless you all. God bless you and give you the power to overcome the principalities in the high places, insurgency in the North, the recent insurgency in the COVID-19 treasury and the killings as He has given us power to make wealth both as a nation and as individuals. The peace of the Lord be with you in Jesus name. Amen ..Amen..Amen.
