To me your point is not well justified. I have bought over 15 cars personally in cotonou and i have up to 3 agents over there working for me and even in the area of customs i know some top people there both at idiroko and seme border that can easily bring down cost of duty to a reasonable rate. In cotonou you cannot diagnose a vehicle and cannot have access to the vin report or carfax to ascertain whether the vehicle was well maintained or involved in an accident or if the odometer has been tampered with. The white men there will only buy what they can easily sell here and make more money. I recently bought a 2007 Toyota matrix XR in cotonou for my younger sister but engine wise it sounded very well and the body very neat etc but only to later notice that the car was accidented and the odometer was tampered. At a speed of 120 to 140 you will feel the impact on the car.

In the area of transmission you cannot know if the transmission is OK or not because when a vehicle is stagnant how will you know and where is the space in cotonou to test run a vehicle. But in USA you will have the vehicle history that will show you everything i,e if the vehicle was involved in an accident,if the odometer has been tampered with,if it is was involved in flood,if it has a salvage history etc and it is then left for you to decide whether to buy or not. If one doesn't have a reliable person to do that for you,you can contact some knowledgeable and trusted people to do a preorder which to me is far more better and safer to anyone than the cotonou issue.

Not that you cannot check a car vin but where is the time to do so? Before you must have completed a vin check on the vehicle,someone else must have indicated interest in that same vehicle and paid for it. So that is my point my brother and to everyone reading this.

That is why you need to follow person that is good in helping ppls buying cars, not to just enter market as if you want to enter market to buy bred or fish, always follow great dealer to help you check for good cars,advantage of buy cars in cotonu than to order it from US or Europe is much, I have a case here that just happen yesterday, someone I know order car from US and dey help him buy and send it home but the gear of car is not good of wish if the owner go to cotonu to buy it he should have detect that in cotonu and look for another one, also a lady order for an 06 corolla, dey sent pix to her but dey don't sent full interior when the car land na manual gear ohh for a lady.cause when the car land everybody knowing that the gear is not good,many things like that, that is why is better to go there and choose by yourself.
