Igbo Vanguard Group has urged the Federal Government not to create Livestock Ministry, that livestock should remain under the Ministry of Agriculture.

Recall that the National Secretary of Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN Alhaji Othman Ngwlzarma had in an interview with newsmen recently urged the Federal Government to establish a livestock ministry to harness the full potentials in the sub-sector of the economy.

Speaking on the appeal by MACBAN, the President General of Igbo Vanguard Group, Engr. James Uchegbuo pointed out that the request is not necessary, since the Ministry of Agriculture accommodate the interest of livestock farming, which constitutes a very important component of the agricultural economy of any nation.

Uchegbuo argued that, "MACBAN is a private individual business, so they should not impose their private business on the entire nation. MACBAN and their spokesperson have been consistently consistent trying all possible means to make unnecessary demands. How on earth will the MACBAN feel that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture cannot accommodate their members' interest? The MACBAN should stop disturbing the peace and tranquility of the nation with their unending demands. Their livestock is important like palm oil, cocoa, groundnut and other Agricultural products.

Uchegbuo wondered what will become of the country if other associations start making similar demands and advised the leaders of MACBAN to think of how to create lasting solution to herdsmen and famers conflicts.
