UNILAG's Indicted Acting Vice Chancellor and Bursar Abandon Desk for Abuja to Lobby with Ogundipe

The Acting VC of the University of Lagos, Professor Sade Ogunsola, who was indicted by the University Council along with the easrtwhile VC, Professor Toyin Ogundipe, the Bursar, Mr. Lekan Lawal and others, have on Monday September 7, left for Abuja with the University Bursar to lobby for a soft landing in the final report of the Visitation Panel recently set up by the Visitor in the very person of President Muhammad Buhari.

The duo, who were indicted in the Council Panel Reports, left Lagos immediately after meeting with the Union Leaders over the payment of the 'Lagos Factor' allowances.

The University Management is considering payment of the 'Lagos Factor Allowance' for the first time after a long clamour for same by the university staff as represented by their various unions.

A staff who pleaded anonymity volunteered that the Management had always deceived the institution's staff with promises of Profit Sharing but have never paid the Lagos Factor Allowance.

The trip to Abuja is to strengthen Ogundipe, former Vice Chancellor, who has been in Abuja since Sunday to lobby the Visitation Panel for a favourable report.

The fact that the Council's indictment report is already in public domain, and has infact been lodged with the EFCC, does not give much room for manipulations according to optimistic pundits who are of the view that any cover-up attempt in the final report of the Visitation Panel will eventually boomerang and deeply hurt the Anti-Corruption Image of the present administration whose main focal points are that of anti-corruption, security and economic well-being of the much belinguard nation.
