Yes all deaths are deaths. But as a man in the labour room on two different occassions as my wife delivered, this kind of loss can be heart wrenching and devastating for the entire family. It was in the labour room I concluded that there is nothing like normal childbirth as we typically attribute to non caesarian births. With what I experienced, they are all ABNORMAL. Very thin line between life and death in all. It's only God.

I feel pained for her after all the challenges of carrying the baby for months. May God grant Sadiya eternal peace. Rest on dear.

Sadly a lot of men don't think so.

Deaths like this are one too many. But in our country its very easy to ascribe the blames to health workers. Often time hospitals almost always receive patient who presents lately and only very view of those who present early experience this fate.That said ,by virtue of her fathers position infant the most skillful consultant in d centre maybe called upon to attend to her,but maybe some things has already gone wrong.
Nigerians contribute a lot to all bad health indices in the country: From unnecessary time wasting patronising quacks,poor regulation ,poor govt funding and supervision,attitude of some health care providers.
This myriad of problems need a holistics approach to achieving a desired goal

All the anxiety of welcoming a new baby ended in this way, RIP

While my Hospital here celebrated 48 years of maternity cares without maternal or baby losses. Something isn't right with hospitals naija leaders built.

It might be the doctor's fault because many of our Naija doctors are only good on paper but the practical aspect of the medical work are just a few...
Most of them have been the cause of the untimely death of their patients....couple with lack of equipment and medical facilities to do the work...

What has dat got to do with her premature death.

From the Nigerian perspective,

1. Delay in getting to a good hospital sometimes can have an impact on mortality or morbidity

2. Then there are the rare complications like amniotic fluid embolism ( please don't Google for it, it's awful)

3. Also some women don't book their pregnancies on time, and as a result conditions that would have been caught on time are missed

4. Then there is the comorbidity like sickle cell anemia, diabetes , asthma , etc that can make childbearing risky

Most common cause of maternal mortality in sub-saharan Africa is PPH - excessive bleeding at birth, sometimes related to Pre-eclampsia/ DIC.
