Eighty-four (N84) as a teacher with School Certificate as qualification in October 1975. A crate of eggs went for N1.50k then. A Hardley Chase novel was 50 kobo and a tin of Geisha was 90 kobo. No able-bodied man, no matter how hungry could finish a 40 kobo loaf of bread. Those were the days!

Mine was
5k working from 7am to 5pm, worked for two months till somebody asked me about my pay, I told em that it's 5k, he was surprised cux he know the Firm I'm working for won't pay 5k for my kind of work, he later made some enquiry and we realized that I'm been paid quarter of my salary.

Thread became senseless from the start when OP lacked the foresight to request people also state the year of the first salary.

Even the state and kind of job would have made it far more interesting.

Let me join the senselessness:

Mine was 8 cowries, 3 guineas and 5 shillings!

My first job after nysc came on a salary scale of 22k per month. That was in 2013. I got my dream job through nairaland the following year (2014). My pay now is abt 22k multiply by double digits.

Tribal sentiments and religious intolerance have strangled the good contents nairaland used to be known for and great personalities (directors, professionals and so on) had no other option than to bow out.
Nairaland is s a home for many. You just have to close your eyes to most things that are negative

My first salary was 1k.

We agreed N900.00 but the woman saw my credible performance and added N100.00.

Meanwhile, no matter the amount you collect monthly, you too can become a landlord in Lagos.

#3k immediately after secondary school, I was a private school teacher.

Started with #121k as an ASC, NSCDC.
Mine was #4k as a private school teacher immediately after secondary school.

Immediately after university in 2010, I got another teaching job for #15k. The man was owing me and payment was not regular.

After service in 2012 I vowed never to teach in any school again because they don't appreciate teachers in Nigeria. I hustled for job till 2014.

In 2014, I got a job in a telecom multinational company with a take home pay of #165k monthly.

You mean you ditched a graduate assistant position for freelancing?
I wasn't fully employed after NYSC though I knew my way around the school and had a few men who could make it happen. I only bypassed the opportunity. Initially, the plan wasn't to get stucked in freelancing but to build a business. It's been challenging (as expected) and freelancing has been helping to keep things steady. 4 years later, no regrets yet.
