Mr. Richard, a 35 year old artisan, visited the general out-patient clinic complaining of burning sensation all over his body and occasionally mild headaches in the last 6 weeks.

When queried further, he disclosed that he had visited several labs where he took “typhoid tests” after which he was told that he had “mild typhoid” followed by prescription of antibiotics to “clear the typhoid” on each occasion.

Mr. Richard decided to visit the hospital because his problems persisted and he had “had enough.”

Thorough evaluation showed that the young man had mild anxiety disorder and insomnia (sleep disturbance) which resulted in the mild headaches.

With the right diagnosis and treatment, Mr. Richard testified to improvement in his condition at the next follow-up visit.

It turned out that the repeated “typhoid tests” and antibiotics treatments, which Mr. Richard was subjected to before he eventually came to the hospital, were all unnecessary.
