Fernandes' Goal After Final Whistle: Other Times We Saw Something Like That.

On 26th of September 2020, Manchester United defeated Brighton and Hove Albion to record their first win of the premier league season albeit in bizzare fashion.

The Reds were awarded a penalty kick which eventually led to the game's winner after the final whistle had been blown by the referee.

Neal Maupay scored in the fifth minute of added to give Brighton their equalizer and from there the match seemed to be headed for a draw until the drama late on.

United captain Harry Maguire's header from a corner hit Neal Maupay's arm but the referee did not spot it and blew the final whistle.

Immediately after that he was notified by the assistant referee and he consulted the monitor on the side of the pitch and decided that it was a penalty for United. Fernandes duly stepped up and scored the winner. But how unlikely is it that a major decision is made after the final whistle? Here are 3 other times it happened:

Zouma Receives Two Yellows After Full Time.

Chelsea centre back Kourt Zouma who spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Everton was a victim of such a decision back in February 2019. On matchday 26 of the 2018/19 premier league season, Everton lost 1-0 to Watford thanks to Andre Gray's header from a corner.

Zouma had an argument with referee Lee Probert at the end of the game about the circumstances surrounding the awarding of the corner that led to the goal. He was given 2 yellow cards and then a red card after the final whistle.

Neymar Gets Red After Final Whistle.

Brazil forward Neymar was sent off after the final whistle in the 2015 Copa America. On 15th June 2015, Colombia defeated Brazil 1-0 but the game can be remembered for the ugly incidences after the final whistle that led to the sending off of Neymar and Carlos Bacca.

If you don't know the scorer of the equalizing goal for Brighton yesterday, I don't know how you want us to believe what happened in 2015, 2018 and so on from you... undecided undecided
