The requirement for being a "teacher" is to know something that the pupil does not know.

When Paul arrested the first Christians, and hauled them to Jerusalem to be condemned to death in rigged trials, all of these Disciples beat the Number 2 out of him in arguments along the way, telling him that he was wrong- including the women.

Now he had to admit that all of those Disciples were correct, and he was wrong.

He would have had to admit that Christian women knew more than he did, upon all his supposed learning at the feet of Gamaliel. His Pharisee Arrogance could never allow that-so he made up this totally-bogus excuse for not listening to women.
