Both parents own the child, but the heritage of the child is traced through the father, not the mother. The child bears the father's last name, and their heritage is traced through the father.

D child is owned by God but came to d world thru' both parents n traditionally wl bear d fathers name. Some cultures inherit paternal wealth, others inherit maternally!Neither d father nor d mother can av absolute claim over a child.

A child is not a property that you own like a piece of furniture.

God owns the child, parents are merely God's appointed guardians on earth.
Come to think of it, do we really own anything on earth?

no one owns the child to start with-------
Yea, both parents put input to form the child
but they r mere guardians,
A child is not a property,

THE child we writing about owns himself. The child is another human, a person. the parents by law have to tend to his wellbeing and if they are not able to, should give the child to a more able family or person.

i agree with dot2002, the child is not owned by anybody that is why when you abuse the child the government take him/her away from you
if you like destroy your car, computer e.t.c no one will disturb you because that is your property but you cannot do the same to a child
