1. Yields, I will give it to jorad. 2. Downy mildew resistance, I will also give it to jorad, it Downy mildew resistance is superb. 3. Big, both are thesame, if you allow it will BIG. 4. maturity jorad will be ready for harvest 35-38 why Greengo 43-45 counting from the day you do nursery. 4. Staking, jorad is easy to stake because it branches is between 2-4 unlike Greengo that branch will bring branches 4 upward. 5.shelf life, I will give it to greengo, second day of harvest, you will notice JORAD a little bit soft but Greengo will remain strong. 6. Dark color, it greengo of course. When you see jorad you will think it dark wait until greengo come near it then you will be speechless. 7. Market respect, when greengo is not around jorad is the KING but when it is around nah ordinary chief. More loading.... Drop comment if you find it informative. 14 Likes 1 Share |

@ farmer akinloye. Thank you for your reviews. Please, I know it's not a maize thread. 1. Is it possible to plant maize on 3 acres in one day? Land has been cleared n sprayed with glyphosate. 2. From your experience, how many people/laborer will be needed to do the planting.on 3 acres. 3. Mode of payment, how much is a fair rate to pay per person. My contact person is saying we pay per acre, but I don't agree with him. Please, how much is a fair price per labourer. for planting in a day.? |

Here comes to the end of this particular project, this is what it looks like after harvest today, I doubt I can see two viable bag in next 4-5 days. Uprooting it by next week if am chance. The profit I realise on this small stand, rival the one I see when I planted almost six thousand. I THANK BABA GOD!!! 2 Likes 1 Share

This is one of many hilarious scenario! when I got to market yesterday morning there was no cucumber like that (maybe like 15 bags) before I joined my own. so I put my price at 7k, those that are serious were buying it, their was this two women that actually arrived first, they have been pricing it 5.5,6,6.5k, and me too was saying 7k last! Suddenly one woman comes lamenting that this remaining cucumber can not reach her, so the woman asked me(those women were hearing her) if cucumber is available and I said "Yes" and showed her. She just bought all, count money and gave me. It was then those women wake up from their sleep.. 1 Like 2 Shares |

Saying they are pricing it now. the woman that bought it, with "vexination" In her voice said " una dey sleep when she asked me the price, una go talk talk, make no body touch that cucumber" Come see fight for market! it was then they are ready to pay 7k, I just told them " they are still eating last year soup" The other woman reply, if they pay 7k she will pay 8k.. |

these day! I went to market with cucumber (JORAD) when I got there, I met like 35 bags of this cukes of which I don't know the name of cultivar at that moment, and like 40 bags of greengo. Greengo price that day was 6.5k, so I drop my to 5.5k because I always make sure I sold my cukes, collect my money and give agent his share. When like 5-6 greengo is sold, I will sell 1 From my own too because it is cheaper And nobody is go near the 35 bags, meanwhile the owner was also there too,his eyes was like ...to be continue.. |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by Farmerakinloye6(m): 5:37am On May 17, 2021 |
2 hours later another motor entered with greengo cukes, immediately I drop my cukes price to 5k, I look at 35 bag guy eyes he was moody, so I approach him and ask some questions like why do you allow your cukes to be too Big and almost ripe like this before you pluck it? He said "that is what the color look like even When it is yet to mature" what cultivar do you plant? He said "Greengo." When he mentioned Greengo me, my colleague that were there and the agent were like Greengo.... What trigger the change of color then? He said " the land is too fertile! join with manure and two time fertilizer." It was during our conversation I knew he brought it from ekiti State. He also told us he still has like 47 bags in the farm, so I asked him how many stand he plant? |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by Farmerakinloye6(m): 5:56am On May 17, 2021 |
He said " 4000 stand" I was like 1st and 2nd harvest you will see 82 bags on just 4000 stand! In my thoughts "I was like no wonder" obviously there is something he is not telling us that might had triggered the change of colour. So we advise him to take the next harvest to LAGOS, drop his price to 3k, even lesser if need be, and make sure he sell everything thesame day.... |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by Farmerakinloye6(m): 6:10am On May 17, 2021 |
...I left him in market that day. I later heard 10bags wasted out of it. As a cucumber Farmer we should also be thinking about quality not yield yield.... Everytime!!!! my experience with f2 loading.... Which is Happy one! |

Farmerakinloye6:I planted like 50 stand of greengo f2 seed, 38 stand was producing (male flowers 92% female 8%) while 12 stand produce 99% female flowers.f2 Stand that produce female flowers compare with f1, I Will say "they are thesame" my colleague that planted 3000 f2 and 3000 f1 said the same thing. |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by Farmerakinloye6(m): 10:11am On May 20, 2021 |
When I told my colleague about male flowers..he was just laughing! So he teach me how to identify cukes on the tree that will produce female flowers when process. I will share it on my IG or channel anytime from now. 1 Like |

Farmerakinloye6: @ farmer akinloye, if I get you right., your friend harvested some greengo cukes, removed the seeds (f1) dried them and went ahead to replant (f2) From your friends experiment, are you saying he harvested some cukes n preserved the seeds as planting material for the next cycle wtout going to buy the seeds from the agro store. |

Preparation for another 3000 stand loading... I spray glyphosate and 2-4d to weed, allow it to work for one week then start renewal of the ridges, I think the ridges should be complete by tomorrow or Saturday. I will not be using manure for this particular project, I wish but can not wait for the manure to cure! Am planting Greengo 2900 + JORAD 100 stand. I think I will also introduce another fertilizer apart from npk. Missing video from previous project will be upload to my IG and YouTube channel. Am going to market tomorrow to know current price, it was 8.5k -7k last week. 1 Like
