Why Are Nigerians In Abroad So Kind And Merciful Than Nigerians In Nigeria? by myfan: 4:34pm On Oct 05, 2020 |
This thread is created out of my observations. I have in different occasions pleaded for help from members of this forum and the help usually come from Nigerians based abroad. I don't know them and they don't know me but they still reach out to help. This is so unlike Nigerians based in Nigeria. In Nigeria, a rich neighbour may hear you are sick to the point of death and need money for survival, instead of reaching out, he may not even send you not to talk of helping you. I remember during my undergraduate days, I had challenges paying my fees and made a post on this forum, the person that helped me out is abroad based Nigerian. Is it that they take their minds back to how it was with them when they were in the country and therefore see the need to help those who are still trapped in the 'cage'? I'm just confused over what could be their reasons. A typical Nigerian based in Nigeria no matter how rich he is is not nice, merciful to others. Meanwhile, if you are abroad based and you have been sending money back home to help people, what is/are your reason(s) please? Lalasticlala, what do you think? |

It happens when the environment is too merciful to you, you can't but repeat same to others. Despite the situation around, Nigerians at home are equally trying to be kind as they can afford. |

Simply because Abroad is merciful and calm while Nigeria is harsh and hostile. |

It is our culture to assist, we don't depend on government but ourselves to survive, that's the major reason we always looked back to assist at home. We back at home are also trying our best, but sometimes the little we contribute may not have more effect. |

prestige2013:Abroad is not that merciful but the government has different social assistance to assist the less privileged. Do you know that, the citizen does not render assistance to one another the way we do in Africa. 1 Like |

Better yet, Nigerians abroad are just Nigerians. N show each other "brotherly love" Where the Igboman is seen as a helper rather than a threat Definitely not getting that in the home country |

Jossyroyal1: Then that isn't wickedness, it becomes being practical, strict or careful as may be applicable. Who wants/likes to be a victim of fraud or foul play? |
