Governors Back SARS Ban by dre11(m): 8:34pm On Oct 05, 2020
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has backed the decision by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, to ban with immediate effect the operations of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and a range of other Tactical Squads of the Force.

The NGF Chairman and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, in his reaction on Monday, lauded the IGP, saying the decision was received with “great relief and satisfaction”.

Fayemi, however, expressed hope that the announcement this time would promptly be followed by action and that there would be no reversal to the “unorthodox enforcement practices being complained against.”

He called for appropriate sanctions against law enforcement officers that had been “lawless and irresponsible” in the exercise of their duties against ordinary Nigerians.

He said: “We also completely agree with the directive of the IGP that ‘no personnel of the Force is authorized to embark on patrols or tactical assignments in mufti’ forthwith.

“This, in our view, will significantly reduce the various infractions of the Force that the ordinary Nigerian people have been complaining about and bring an end to the menace of SARS brutality on the people they are meant to protect.

“The IGP’s instructions could not have come at a better time when majority of Nigerians are unhappy with this cohort of police officers who have routinely engaged in unlawful killings and torture, thereby giving the Force a bad name.

“It is helpful to recall that SARS has been cautioned in the same manner before only for it to go back to its old ways.

“Our young people should not be criminalized simply on account of how they look or their mode of dressing or the cars they drive, the type of phone they carry, etc. This is an assault on their fundamental human rights.

“We think this is a timely clinical response by the leadership of the Nigerian Police Force and must specially commend IGP Adamu for his promptness and boldness.”

Citizens are taking it upon themselves to get rid of these SAS operatives, Ban them (place them to handle sensitive criminal activities as they were known to handle in the past) or else there may be some sort of blood bath around.

Yahoo boys are celebrating cry

Yahoo boys are celebrating the EndSars campaign.

They see it as a fight for their freedom.

While it's important to ban sars for their abuse of power, it's also obligatory on the government to ensure that a new agency or department is created to tackle the menace of cyber fraud.

It's damaging our reputation internationally. It's depriving many people from making money legitimately. One a potential client hears Nigeria, he blocks you.

There's artificial inflation of prices everywhere because they know these fraudsters will buy anything at whatever price.

Please, any government person reading this should please take note.

If not for the fact that Nigeria is a lawless country, SARS or whatever they called them would have been a forgotten issue by now.

They're worst and commit worst crimes than the criminals they claim to be fighting.

Nigerians should not rejoice yet, their ban is temporary, I can bet they soon resurface after few months.

Re: Governors Back SARS Ban by Nobody: 9:50pm On Oct 05, 2020
Good but until they restructure police force totally, banning SARS is just collecting their uniform, while the main character they have developed will remain in them. Many dont know that SARS are very few , and each state has her own anti robbery unit apart from FSARS, then others policemen impersonating them are there too, those are the one you see most of the time.

Why do u go to stations and meet few policemen while they say others have gone on patrol? are they SARS?. All they need is to where Black plain cloth or special jacket without number and carry unmarked vehicles to go up and down and look for prey. Even some DPO follow them in plain cloths with jacket and jeans. Funniest thing is that when those claiming SARS, if they see their X-SQUAD counterpart, they run like mad men.
It has become norm. If they ban SARS , you will see others acting same way in the name of patrol. Until they overhaul the entire police force, then you will still see that it wont end. Its only for them to change tactics to night from like 10 pm and claim anyone arrest as a suspect. Tell me how people will see that and alert or call the other bosses to notice or notice their monitoring units especially the X-SQUAD. And anyone they catch that time,of the night will tell the story another day.
