Title: Waiting Game, Size: 63.5cm by 45cm, Medium: Mixed-media on paper, Year: 2020. Waiting Game is a Mixedmedia painting that portrays the issue of inferiority and complexity with a notion of what happened in the past, present and future in the western world in comparison to Africa ( the third world countries). The work reveals racism, nepotism, and amongst all, questions the idealistic view of the western world over the African continent as a continent seen as one that will not play any positive impact in the world organisations and the world at large. The painting depicts, the present issue in the world where the ‘COVID19’ pandemic has revealed the happenings in the socio and political system of the world where by the eyes of everyone is at a watch as of what is heard and thought of, keeps playing after years past when colonialism, social discrimination and racism plays a vital role. In the painting human, still life, geometric and abstract figures play a vital role since it is used to depict metaphor of how the ‘third world’ clamours for change in the former situation of the western Worlds view on African continent it rather takes reference of the recent discovery made by Madagascar , which has been a battle between madagascar and the World Health Organisation (W.H.O) which has become a game being that the discovery of such vaccine and cure comes from Africa therefore there is a delay in the testing and approval rather the crust of the matter is to wait not until the delay becomes a total denial. Title: Connected Disconnection, Size: 68cm by 43cm, Medium: Collage on paper. Year: 2020. Ugiomoh F.A.O. (2018) in his Real and Imagined Planetary Connections: Ikechukwu Francis Okoronkwo’s Nuanced Refraction in Netizens: Exploring Contemporary Discards of Technology in Mixed media and Installation Art he rightly asserts that. “Contemporary life draws increasing numbers of artists to imagine the world understood here as comprising a number of contemporaneous ‘natures’: the natural world, built environments (‘ second nature’), virtual space ( ‘ third nature’), and lived interiority (‘human nature’) as a highly differentiated yet inevitably connected whole. In this sense, from what we might call a planetary perspective, contemporary art may be becoming an art for the world-for the world as it is now,and as it might be”. It is with the reflection that Connected Disconnection becomes an issue not so far from the happenings , occurrences and activities within the period of the COVID19 pandemic , but it is rather an opinion as understood by the artist of the world becoming virtually driven such that it becomes a response emanating from the precausive measures of the COVID19 pandemic ‘ stay at home’ which has created a room for the 5G introduced by the network providers ‘MTN’ whereby the world experiences what we call revolution of which veribly every tasks tends to go virtual via the internet. The opinion and understanding of the introduction of ‘5G’ network came, which brought about the title ‘ Connected Disconnection’ being that not only the advantage of the newly introduced network but the disadvantage.Where by the world will be wholly connected but enslaved and controlled in a certain way different from the former. The need to move from place to place will be reduced such that every human will be monitored as can be see in the world which is depicted in the work showing a circular central point inextricably woven into webs where all elements are connected which is seen in the composition where human, and his created environment is connected by at least a line cutting across the central circular point. Title: Resonant Virus, Size: 54cm by 56cm, Medium: mixed-media on paper board. Year: 2020. Resonant Virus is a painting inspired by a poem, written by the artist. It explains the experience of ebola break witnessed and stretches out to the recent corona virus outbreak as that which resounds being that it has not just swept Africa but the world at large ‘off its feet’ not mindful of class nor status but a non gender sensitive issue that brought the entire world to a ‘stand at still’ situation in terms of its activities via its economy. The composition in the painting shows animal and still life components together with alphabets all put together as a metaphor to talk about the past ebola outbreak and how it connects the present outbreak and it’s experiences. The Horse: Stallion represents strength and by implication it talks about the male gender of humans specifically the handsome sound in health mind and body the roses and swam birds represents the female gender but it cut across both the beautiful the young and old while below at the front is an element with a gold colour through using touches of lemon and medium yellow to bring out it’s lustre feelhich represents the sea lion: medication including medical attention. At the joint of the painting is an ink mark drawing showing an anchor to represent sea freighters which are the medical experts : doctors and nurses The other half of the mixedmedia shows the precausive measures which is examplified by the test written in style very close to the buildings with the caption “stay home, stay alive” all extracted from the poem which is written in stanzas in each patch of yellow canvas attached to the painting written with black ink the wordings; “We saw it coming, yet it seemed like the sounds which fell bridges and later changed into songs of rose We pondered wilt staring, making headways as in yond of ignoring spots We knew it was a sub-Saharan affair, playing rose it danced and dwindled in like a runaway affair Not so quick it seemed neither did it only claim swam birds that never drowned into the sea, but also sea lions and sea freighters Sweet dance like the Bale of the days, but came with different tunes which never seemed easy to be dance in conform Tune that dances its way in and out in a perturbed serenity Between roses, stallions and studs what a ponder.”
