12 die in Plateau auto crash

An auto crash along Kassa road in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State has claimed 12 people, leaving 21 injured, a statement by the Plateau State Police Command has said.

According to the statement, which was signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Apev Jacob, the accident which involved a Nissan Bus with registration number, XB 910 DAL and a Ford Bus with registration number XE 653 JJN occurred at about 11am in the morning.

.According to the statement, the injured victims were rushed to the Plateau Specialists Hospital while the corpses were deposited at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) for autopsy. Investigation by our correspondent revealed that the victims were on their way to the flag-off of Pauline Tallen’s governorship campaign when they had the accident. But ASP Jacob, who spoke to our correspondent on phone said he could not ascertain whether the victims were Labour Party supporters, adding that the message contained in the statement was the only information they had at that time

A witness however said that one of the buses involved in the accident had Labour Party posters all over it.
