FG must compensate victims of Jos, Borno crises - Makinde

THE Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr Sunday Ola Makinde, has urged the Federal Government to pay compensation to all affected victims of religious violence in Plateau and Borno states, irrespective of their tribe and religion.

The cleric stated this in his address at the third annual diocesan synod of the Diocese of Remo Central, held at Isara-Remo, Ogun State, on Thursday.

The cleric, in his address at the synod, with the theme: I will heal your land, described what was happening in the two states as condemnable.

He contended that the spate of religious violence in the northern part of the country had become unacceptable and unbearable to Nigerians, especially Christians, adding that those behind the dastardly acts had no respect for human lives.

Makinde told all security agencies to rise up to the challenges, by defending Nigerians from terrorism and genocide. On the 2011 general election, Makinde prayed for peaceful, transparent and fair elections.
