Germany is full of golden opportunities, especially if you are going into the research field. Their protocol offers permanent residence and work permit to employees who are highly skilled, but the most reliable way you can settle down in Germany is by getting into one of their prestigious universities (public-funded universities are free). This article will explain the processes of achieving a residence permit in Germany.
Getting an admit to a German university
Before you send an application, collect information from various sources about the university you are applying for i.e. application, eligibility, procedure, and criteria. Make sure you have a valid passport.
Financing in German education
To get a visa, you need proof of funds. A study aspirant must also get an education loan before applying for a visa. It plays a crucial role in determining the amount of money required to study in Germany.
Get a Student Visa
As soon as you get your admission letter, you can apply for a student visa. For your first year of study, proof of funding will be required by the German Consulates and the Embassy. Visit the website of the German Embassy to know where you should apply for a visa.
Get a residence permit
Within the first 3 months of your stay in Germany, you can get your resident permit from the closest Foreigners’ Registration Office (Ausländerbehörde).
Apply for internships
If you have a placement within your university as a researcher or professor’s assistant, or a mandatory internship (12 weeks), the visa laws give you the opportunity to do it. A student visa will also enable you to work 90 full days or 180 half days in a year; you can work more than this during your semester break.
Extend your student visa
The German residence permit is issued (study purpose) for a period of 2 years and must be renewed before it expires. An extension is granted on how you organize your studies, whether you gather certificates and write examinations. The chance of completing your studies within a stipulated time frame is assessed appropriately.
Apply for Germany work visa
A Long-term residence permit or a job seeker visa enables you to stay in Germany for up to 18 months and search for a job. If you found a job at the end (full or part-time), you have the chance to apply for a German work visa. You can also apply for an EU Blue card.
The EU Blue card in Germany is a new type of residency permit that give non-EU workers a stay without a visa. The criteria involved here is to have a German university degree and also employment with a salary of at least €53,600 per-annum. EU Blue card permits workers to stay for 4 years unless their contract is shorter than this. After this, they have the option to apply for permanent residency.
Becoming a permanent residency in Germany
You can apply for a permanent residence permit after 2 years of receiving your EU Blue card or German residence permit. The only condition here is that you must have employment in Germany.
