Why sitting for 13 hours for ICAN lectures is very counterproductive, Use these 5-step technique instead

Timothy Here Again,

If you have been following my series of posts, you would have seen me mentioned Promodoro technique and in one of my posts, I promised to do a complete explanation and why you should adopt the technique.

The question is what is the Promodoro technique? The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks.

The idea behind the technique is that the timer instils a sense of urgency. Rather than feeling like you have endless time in the workday to get things done and then ultimately squandering those precious work hours on distractions.

When it comes down to your study, instead of spending hours of non-stop only to assimilate a very little, why not put breaks in between your studies and let's see how far it can take you?

That is why sitting down for 10 to 14 hours for lectures is very counterproductive. Even if you don't have any form of Responsibilities (e.g. office workload, family etc) than to eat, read and sleep, that is the time when you start feeling sleepy most. Because it is the only time you get to focus on one and only one thing - lectures. The most painful aspect is that your brain would have stopped assimilating 2 hours into the class.

Having said that, Practically, what are the step by step of using The Promodoro Technique to pass your exams? The steps to adopt is very simple and these include:

Step 1: Decide on the topic you want to study.
Step 2: Set the Pomodoro timer to 45 minutes
Step 3: Work on the topic with all your might with no distractions.
Step 4: End your studies once the 45 minutes alarm is complete
Step 5: Take a short break between 10 to 15 minutes

Knowing what you know now, how will you study differently? Decide now and stop following the crowd because things have really changed.
