Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information has said the humiliation of Omoyele Sowore, publisher of SaharaReporters and convener of #RevolutionNow by #EndSARS protesters in Abuja is a testament that the youths are not being paid or sponsored to do what they are doing.

He said it is time for the federal government to decongest the political space and give priority to the welfare of "youths who are the oxygen through which society breathes freely".


Sowore had arrived when the protesters were echoing their demands at the entrance of Nigeria’s National Assembly on Thursday but was surprisingly asked to leave the premises.

The protesters shouted at him "Come dey go. Come dey go. We don’t want you here. Sowore we don’t want you here. Support us on Twitter. We don't want politicians here'.


Speaking in an interview with Daily Independent, Momoh, who is one of the national leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) said the federal government must listen to the demands of the youths as their agitations are genuine.

Momoh who also praised President Muhammadu Buhari for acquiescing to the demands of the youths by disbanding SARS, said " I must praise President Buhari for his approach so far, he has been attending to accumulated problems in the past".

" What the #EndSARS protesters did to Sowore in Abuja shows that they are not being used, sponsored or paid to protest by any politician or political party. Their agitations are genuine".

Most people protesting are rich ooo. Come see as big boys dey park Benz and Range rover for road to come protest for lekki and Abuja. This is a big statement to the government.
