Somebody please help. I changed break pads today and all of a sudden, the steering wheel just developed a mind of its own as it turns rapidly to the left while driving. And when I park, I had to hold on to the steering before turning off the ignition to prevent it from swinging to the left again. 1 Like |

Vehicle has officially joined left-wing Politics It may be a minor alignment issue sha.. I can imagine you doing 170km/hr and the car's steering swings you into the lane of an oncoming truck Damn Nigga....i would rather not imagine that sort of grossness 6 Likes 2 Shares |

buygala: The swing is not that kind of alignment problem, the wheel works with electronic power steering and this case, it rotates with full force rapidly till it gets to its rotary end. |

Omoawoke: Seems the mechanic mistakenly or ignorantly tempered with the steering system. Take it for surgery with a qualified Honda mechanic. 1 Like |

Something these problems are coincidental , and may not be caused by a simple routine maintenance such as changing brake pads. My thoughts 1. ceased caliper 2. Worn Inner /Outer tierod 3. Death Wobble. Check lower arm bushings |

First you need to understand how a power steering works. First it assist your effort in turning the steering. Older cars use hydraulic pressure and a valve system. The valve system detects which direction the steering is moving and directs hydraulic pressure to the side to assist. An electric system works same way. It has a sensor that detects the side you are turning the activates the electric motor to assist the turning motion in the direction. Having pointed this out, my guess will be some how, this sensor is permanently sensing a left turn. So it has permanently turned the motor in assist mode to the left. Am so you get an assist to the left even when there is no intention. Fixing the issue means trouble shooting that sensor. |

Zeal192: Sorry for the late reply. I didnt see this. But for the sale of people who may encounter same problem. The whole problem is from the electric power steering. The mechanic that tried to repair mine eventually damaged my electric power steering. I changed it for about 100k and I'm fine 1 Like |

idmoore:the ball joint of that side is slowly giving up and this is one of the signs,it will also wear the Tyre of that side, brake pads will only do that if you brake, change the ball joints and also check tierod ends 1 Like |

idmoore: Obviously, it wasn't the break pad replacement that caused the issue as OP has "confessed" that the power steering was "repaired". Break pad replacements should not cause steering complications under normal and abnormal circumstances. |
