Anambra government vows to lift culture, tourism
...as Aguleri celebrates festival

Anambra State government, says it will not relent in making sure the State becomes centre of attraction through culture and tourism.

The State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano stated this yesterday during his Community's 'Olili onwa Isaa ' festival in Aguleri, Anambra East local government area of the State.

He said Government was impressed by the devised presentation of culture and how it attracted people to events in the State such as the Tourism Experts, including 'Goge Africa', BBC Igbo among others

Obiano announced that the four girls and three young men in the cultural dance groups were to be drafted into the Anambra State Dance troupe with immediate effect

Governor Obiano was represented by the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Chief Christian Madubuko, who led other Exco members to Aguleri

The four traditional rulers from the quarters namely, Igwe Mike Idigo of Aguleri
, Eze Chukwuemeka Eri (Enugwu Aguleri)
,Igwe Johnson Mbanefo (Mkpunnado)
and Igwe Lawrence Nwofia (Eziagulu Otu)

The Chairman of Eziagulu Ikenga Forum EIF,
Basil Manafa, said the the event always brought the entire Aguleri together for them to identify and prioritize the problems and proffer solutions.

Manafa said, "We have delved into Culture and Tourism by reviving this festival that brought us here.

"Aguleri is a town that is very expressive, and we express ourselves through our unique festivals.

" Prosperity in Igbo culture means wealth and fruitfulness. The festival is happening today,and we have successfully revived it. We did not remove the fetish because as you have seen, there is nothing fetish about the celebration" he said
