First of all, the #EndSars organizers and protesters, both offline and online, who made sundry vital sacrifices must be commended and celebrated for making a statement that young people of Nigerian have capacity to interrogate their leaders and demand accountability as well as change.

As fate would have it, the #EndSars organizers and protesters achieved early success with the dissolution of SARS and acceptance of 5-point demands by President Buhari. Drawing from their mastery of social media, they attracted global attention and jolted people in government for the first time in the history of the country.

Unfortunately, they got carried away by the newfound power they wielded. They moved beyond the objective of ending SARS to ending bad governance by blocking major roads and inflicting pains on innocent members of the public. They moved from peaceful #EndSars protesters to an amorphous all-purpose protesting MOVEMENT.

They became unnecessarily power-arrogant, hostile and rude to anybody that came with new ideas. They shunned wise counsels from sympathetic senior citizens and threatened to 'cancel' experienced peers who wanted to throw in a word of advice on how to organize the protest better. Unfortunately, people like Oby Ezekwesili and Aisha Yesufu who they listened to were driven by animosity. They offered negative mentoring rather than positive guidance.

By not halting at point of sucess to restrategize and set new targets, they broke the 47th Law of Power that says:
Do Not go Past The Mark You Aimed For, In Victory Learn When To Stop

The import of this law is that the moment of victory is often the moment of greatest peril. In the heat of victory, arrogance and overconfidence can push you past the goal you had aimed for, and by going too far, you make more enemies than you defeat. Do not allow success to go to your head. There is no substitute for strategy and careful planning. Set a goal, and when you reach it, stop.

History is littered with the ruins of victorious empires and the corpses of leaders who could not control their emotions and come to a kind of mental halt when they have attained success in order to consolidate their gains.

The consequences of breaking this law is that the newfound YOUTH PROTEST was badly devalued as weapon of making Nigerian political leaders to sit up and do the right thing. Now, it must be reinvented for it to be effective once more as required.

We cried and cried, the #endSARS protests should be suspended immediately the FG showed readiness to engage in dialogue before it metamorphose into something disastrous. Numerous state and non-state actors are on the sidelines waiting for the perfect moment to hijack the struggle.

But no, they insisted they were fighting for our grandchildren.

I wonder how the destruction of infrastructures and properties that the demonstration has resulted to translates to better condition of life for Nigerians.

Don't mind them. The little brothers and sisters. Little I say because they are not very smart when it comes to planning or executing, it reflects in their daily lives, these little brothers and sisters don't have independent thinking abilities no more because they'd rather follow trend, fashion or hype whether good or bad. They are flotsam and jetsam.

They have not only lost a flush hand, they are going to pay for the loss. It's going take a while to trust their initiatives again.

I remember Aisha Yeaufu appealed to them to retreat to restategise.

That's the disadvantage of the struggle not having a leader.

Your write up assumes a lot, if I’m wrong kindly state who the convener of the #EndSARS protests is with proof. If you can’t, just shut up and reflect on those that paid the ultimate sacrifice for u while you were at home chewing gum & dishing out unsolicited advice at ur tv and phone screen.

The issue here was the initial absence of leadership in what was effectively a spontaneous eruption of emotion. Even as the protests progressed, a popular leadership structure did not develop because likely candidates among the most prominent 'celebrity' protesters were either unwilling or unable to assume that leadership.

They ultimately lacked faith in their own charisma to coordinate all these disparate persons showing up to #ENDSARS. Among the protesters, as the days progressed, little enclaves of self interest had begun to emerge and these prominent individuals were already taking heat from within. It was safer to twitter away, make speeches, raise fists and continue chanting in a carnival atmosphere. I therefore don't blame them.

So, no leadership to call a halt to road blockages. No leadership to command protesters to return home. No leadership to dialog with the Government on the 5 points already accepted.

We know where it ended*.

* A cousin was rallying other mums in Lekki to provide food to feed the 'protesters' at the toll plaza one day, the 'hoodlums' were destroying her entire means of livelihood the other day. Tragic!

At least, the protests have one way or the other united our youth. Let's get Our PVCs and wait for them come 2023.

Let the youth pick a young man with vision and sponsor him to Aso rock in 2023.

It's time we take back our country

Stupid and senseless post from political jobbers.

The youth have passed their message and the concerned public officials received it. This is not a political movement therefore it does not need a useless leadership.

Nobody lost anything because it is not an initiative of anybody. It was a spontaneous outburst. In fact we have achieved much.

SARS remained dissolved.
Some of the police criminals are under trial.
Governors have created compensation package for victims of police brutality and extra judicial killings.
We also succeeded in getting our governors on our side

The loosers are the fake activists, political jobbers etc, who wanted to hijack the whole movement but failed, they know themselves. I am saying to them ntor.

May the soul of the innocent protesters killed by the police and the military rest in peace. Amen

I agree with your analysis.

Instead of having leaders who would review daily activities, hold strategic sessions to generate police reform ideas based on the experiences of young people in the hands of SARS and interface effectively with government, they preferred a group of feminist operating as 'fund releasers'. Thus the opportunity to test and identify young people with robust leadership skills was lost.

A negative impression was created: that there exist no young Nigerian who can be trusted to go negotiate robustly and successfully with government without being bribed. The question impression threw was, what is then hope for Nigeria's political future? Once again, a great opportunity to identify young people with strong-will and integrity who can serve as future leaders was senselessly lost.

Keeping an open mind helps the growth of one's intellect. Try it and see!
