Gratefulheart1: H can be silent in words like Honour, Heir, hour, ghost, honest.... You still don’t get it. Do you? Afonjas don’t have any linguistic rule regarding the alphabet h. H isn’t silent in ‘how’ but an Afonja will pronounce it ‘ow’ H isn’t silent in hope but that fake soldier pronounced it ‘ope’ Now h is silent in honour but Afonja would still pronounce the h. Save that link and send it to your English language teacher, ‘opefully’ it might untie his tongue. 3 Likes |

KosiGee: Save yourself all the stress, the only difference at the beginning of the word is the elongated resonating (reverberation) and energy that conveys the sound outside, but those are not sound as such, you can't hear them, you can only notice them and once you start talking, they will vanish. 'H' is not a sound, it's just a reverberation. You pronounce the vowel after the h, the h only adds reverberation to that vowel sound. There are intonation blunders no doubt but some of you are confused on which exact sound the fault really is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAsf3OLFlUU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUOJqy7kzPE 3 Likes 1 Share |

Gratefulheart1: Let’s not derail this thread with unnecessary links. You are contradicting yourself. People from the west would pronounce the two words....ope and opefully....that’s the message. Seems you woke up from the wrong side of the bed. Send your links and tag the people who need them. 2 Likes |

KosiGee: You're confused. That is the problem. ope and opefully, that's what you hear eventually, especially when people are talking (continuous speech), except your village pronounces different from the rest of the world. 'H' adds reverberation and more energy at the beginning, it's NOT a sound you hear as such. There are lots of phonetic plunders, no doubt, but that of 'h' words are out of it. 1 Like 1 Share |

US soldier is becoming a place for lunatics. This one no nothing about sovereign nation and sooner or later, he is likely going to drag US into an international mess by violating some rules of engagement. 2 Likes |

alizma: You people give yourself a break. He knows US can't invade Nigeria, this is 2020, no country can just invade another territory like that on whatever condition. There was another video of the guy he recorded, he was only perplexed with the Lekki shooting, reason why he's talking this way. When you're pained, you say some things that sound stupid. He's Nigerian and he's with Nigerians on this but you're all here abusing him. Nigerians are hard to please. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Seems like all the resources spent in training this one was wasted. US army officers are very stable emotionally, that's a major part of their training. This one here talks like an average Nigerian military officer. Oga mi, if they kick you out of their system, don't blame your skin colour. 3 Likes 1 Share |
