Personally, when I sensed they were preparing for a massacre was when I heard that Sanwo-Olu moved the time for the curfew from 4pm that day to 9pm, while the Americans and the British hurriedly closed their embassies.. Those weren't some sort of coincidence if you know how it works. Please, no one would deploy soldiers without clearance from the Commander-in-Chief. Buhari knew, Sanwo-Olu knew, which is why he ordered a curfew to get the people out. Where he failed was in his inability to deploy buses and send his officials to appeal to the peaceful protesters to leave. If he had done that, the arson would have been avoided and the scale of looting would have been avoided too.
