Written by Ishola Michael, Gombe Saturday, 12 March 2011

Gombe State Police Command has announced the arrest of 15 suspects in connection with the attack on President Goodluck Jonathan’s convoy in Gombe, last Thursday, during the PDP presidential rally.

The Police Public Relations officer of the Gombe State Police Command, ASP Ahmed Doma, disclosed this on Friday in a telephone interview with Saturday Tribune.

Stones were allegedly thrown at the president’s convoy during his presidential campaign to the state, just as Ahmed Doma disclosed that a group of unruly youths also set bonfires in Bolari and Jekadari areas of the state capital during his presidential campaign rally in the state.

The police spokesman also said that 13 of the suspects had been charged to court while two of the suspects, who are minors, were sent to remand homes and advised members of the public to be law-abiding at all time.

Rampaging youths had, a day before, attacked the Goodluck/Sambo Campaign Office in the state located along Bauchi road on the day the Congress for Progressive Youths (CPC) presidential candidate visited the state.

Any almajiri that takes the law into their hands needs dealing with. More importantly, those behind the primitive act need be brought to face the full might of the law; it wouldn't be a shock if it is found that they are the people behind the bombs in Jos as well.

What sort of animal sends kids to endanger their lives by attacking the Presidents motorcade? These are kids who need love and the warmth of caring homes, but instead are being used as expendable fodder by evil politicians and creatures of the dark.

There are no underage almajiri's in those places, so nobody will be sent to remand homes. Other than that, if any political party has a problem with thugs, they are adviced to report the matter to the police.

Who's talking about underage almajiris?

I hope you realise the meaning of the word, "President". Further than that, I wonder if you understand the gravity that attempting to harm the President carries?
Those fools are even lucky to be alive, the Presidents security guards are well within their rights to summarilly snuff out any life that threatens the President with bodily harm or puts his life in any sort of danger.

I laugh in Kongi  - As usual unbalanced arguments.  When Ibori/Odili were arming youths for their own evil objectives nobody said anything now PDP is feeling the heat they are complaining.  Every evil vices in last 12 years was introduced by PDP.   It will be better if PDP arrests the entire state populace as no votes are coming from that block.   What a shame for a once popular president whose rating rapidly diminished in only 10 months - That once itself is a new world record.

PDP might be any name on Earth, but they did not create almajiri's. Its a free World, so you can hate GEJ for whatever reason, but he did not create the mindset that says its ok to attack the Presidential motorcade. I will advice you to try that on Camerons motorcade in the UK where you live; if you see the next day, you'll be a lucky man indeed, posting to NL from Belmarsh.

Mind you the Kwara ACN guber reported his case long b4 the Gombe incident.

So why is Kwara incidence left unattended to while that of Gombe was speedily acted upon

You are wasting your time seeking answers from a one sided individual.  The fact of the matter only issues that affect PDP only get police attention.  The other day the ACN plane almost crash landed on run way full of goats and yet we have a minister for aviation. Do you think same can ever happen to GEJ if he were to visit the same airport.
