Nigerian artiste, Tiwa Savage, has opened up on darker times in her past and how she had, twice, attempted to kill herself.

Having moved to London with her mother at age 10, she became the target for bullies.

According to her, the suicidal tendencies started after suffering horrible abuse from being black in a school in London. She opened up on how she was victim to various racist bullies who dragged her over her accent and her heritage.

She relayed her story in an interview on the Black Box show with the BBNaija host, Ebuka Obi Uchendu on Bounce.

She said “In her words, “I was teased so bad. They used to call me ‘African girl’, ‘Foo foo’, ‘Your food smells’ and so on. It was terrible. It was so bad that I literally tried to kill myself two times. I was really depressed.”
