What are the consequences of conforming? And is "americanzing" conforming or is it just survival tactics? Im loath and want to help my nigerian friend see the dangers of some unhealthy american practices being american myself and a Christian,

What kind of practices? As per conformity, people are different- some cant be happy if they dont go with the crowd while others are more individualistic. It all depends on personality although christians are supposed to not follow the multitude to do evil, but most still need reminding before they decide what to or not to do.

I used practice for lack of a better word. But from my american christian view point he parties curses listens to the demeaning music, I know his parents didn't raise him this way because he said to me whatever I do matters not to what my parents or anyone else think only God

He`s probably rebelling against his parents either consciously or subsconsicously. It could also be he grew up in a sheltered environment and cant handle the responsibility of being on his own.

But i agree he seems to be on a dangerous path. However, its up to him.
