Crises in Jos, the Plateau State capital, have been blamed for the delay in the take-off of the Adamawa State proposed Guyuk cement company.

A US-based company handling the project, Gooth Incorporated Company Limited, said this yesterday in Yola, when he met with Governor Murtala Nyako.

Alhaji Muhammad Lawal Girgir told the governor that the work would have reached an appreciable level by now if not for the crises in Jos which, according to him, affect the transportation of goods and other materials to the site.

He said at the moment, the firm would soon mobilize to site and that the Guyuk cement company is expected to commence operation within the next 19 months under the build, operate and transfer (BOT) arrangement.

He added that feasibility study earlier conducted showed that Guyuk, where the proposed cement factory is to be sited has 260 million metric tonnes deposit of limestone.

Responding, Governor Nyako assured that the government would not relent

on the project and called on the people of the area to co-operate to achieve results.
