Prof Oserheimen Osunbor , a former Edo State Governor, has said Joe Biden, president-elect of the United States will show more respect to Nigeria and other developing countries.

In a keenly contested election, Biden, a former US Vice-President and flagbearer of the Democratic Party was elected the 46th president of the United States, making Donald J. Trump who ran on the platform of the Republican party  a one-term president after four years.

Speaking in an interview with Daily Independent, Osunbor said Donald Trump, the outgoing US President didn’t really show more respect for developing countries during his four-year reign.

He however said he is not expecting much change in terms of foreign relations as US Presidents, whether Republican or Democrats prioritises America’s first.

“First  of all, what did we miss during the Trump presidency? One thing that is clear is that there will be more respect for African countries and developing countries generally and Nigeria  included”.  
“Trump didn’t appear to have much regard to those set of countries. I believe Biden will show more empathy and more respect to Nigeria as a country”.

“I think that is the most outstanding thing that I can see. But generally, US foreign policy doesn’t change too much. Whether it is a Republican or Democrat that is in charge, it is US interest first”.

“So, I expect that that will continue. But even within that policy framework of the United States Government, I expect  a  better deal for Nigeria in terms of more respect and more empathy

Actually they stopped buying crude from Nigeria because they became self sufficient. It had nothing to do with gay marriage.
