Because protest is a means to achieve an aim, but the protesters turned the protest to their main goal.
Instead, negotiation with government would have been their best shot.
While government was ready to talk with them, the protesters didnt know what they suppose to do.

Next time if they want to do such protest, they should go to labour union to give them one person to guide the protesters leaders.
Because the labour union people are expert on things related to protest.
