With the attendant outcry in many countries particularly in Europe and America, it is a reality that the covid-19 scourge is here with us again. And what is most baffling is that people have thrown caution to the wind about the safe distance approach and other protocols associated with the prevention of the spread of this deadly virus.

It was observed that during the recent #EndSARS protests most people went onto the streets in large numbers without giving consideration to the risk of contracting COVID-19 without the use of face mask. It is equally alarming that in spite of the attention given to keeping to the adoption of safety measures, a vast majority of the Nigerian youths still believe that the COVID-19 saga is a scam. This attitude towards the CORONAVIRUS outbreak is dangerous and must be changed.

It is puzzling that most state government have relaxed mass sensitization approach geared towards creating public awareness earlier adopted. Most of the testing centre earlier situated at strategic areas in the states have been closed. This attitude towards the CORONAVIRUS scourge is indeed risky and may have negative effects on the Nigerian populace.

Urgent actions need to be taken by the government, non-governmental organisations and of course, individuals right now to sensitize the public about the return of COVID-19 and reinstitute all control measures previously taken to prevent further spread of this deadly virus in Nigeria.
