"A lot of us have expectations we feel have been met or unmet, while trusting and hoping to God for a miracle. Prayer is asking for God's intervention in the affairs of Man and now we will put in perspective what prayer is and is not."

1. Silent Mode: There is nowhere in the scriptures to substantiate praying in your mind. "Open your mouth and I will fill it" shows God wants us to open our mouths and lift up your voice in prayer.

2. Prayer is not a monologue. But a dialogue: There has to be some form of interaction, communication and deep communion with God. It is not complete until there's a feedback. The four stages of communication are

Kinds of Prayers

1. Prayer of supplication: is a fervent, earnest, heartfelt and continuous prayer. It is not a one off prayer. It is consistent and repetitive in nature. For both natural and spiritual needs. Philippians 4vs6.
Prayer of provision as we make supplications for our leaders.

2. Prayer of Commitment: This is the kind we pray when worried or anxious about something. The type where you cast your fears, worries, anxieties, cares on God. Like having rent, bills or fees to pay but trusting God. 1Peter 5vs7.

Why Prayers are Not Answered

1. Wrong motive: James 4vs3. In Christianity, its not so much what we pray for but why. Write down reasons justifying your cause to God.

2. Lack of expectation: Expectations is the mother of miracles. There is something about the expectations of the righteous. God is obliged to grant your expectations. Proverbs 21vs18. Praying to get results and not just praying sake.
