Stop wasting words. Why did God punish Onan? Is it because of his intention only as you said or because of than and spilling the fluid. The Bible says the latter!

For lying against what the Bible Says, for adding to what is not in the Bible, you've placed yourself on a curse already.

Revelation 22:18
And I solemnly declare to everyone who hears the words of prophecy written in this book: If anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book.

So you've always been an ignoramus. I thought you said you were a Christian before, you didn't understand Christianity no wonder the devil got your soul.

The reason Onan was punished is clearly stated in the Bible.

Let me teach you as usual:

One remedy for the disruption of inheritance caused by the premature death of a man before he had produced an heir was the custom of levirate marriage. As outlined in Genesis 38, the dead man’s brother was required to impregnate the widow so that his brother’s name (his inheritance share) would be passed on to the child born of this obligatory act.

Onan was punished for his greed as he refused to impregnate Tamar because it would decrease his eventual inheritance share because if no child is born in his brother's name, Onan automatically inherit all of the inheritance without sharing it with anybody.

Gen.38.8 - Then Judah said to Onan, "Lie with your brother's wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to produce offspring for your brother."
Gen.38.9 - But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother.
Gen.38.10 - What he did was wicked in the LORD's sight; so he put him to death also.
