Eating at funerals

I just don't get it. Is it me or everyone just seem to be looking for any available opportunity to wine and dine. I expect that when one is laid to rest, the atmosphere should be one characterized by sober reflections and mourning. However, in most funerals I see or attend today apart from intimate family members most people present are just concerned about the refreshment package(s) much to the financial burden of whosoever is in charge of the funeral organization.

What I expect -
1. A brief biography of the deceased.
2. Words of fortitude from the officiating priest to the family of the deceased and those present.
3. Prayers.
4. Interment.
5. Payment of tribute by sympathizers.

Ps: I know there's something called 'celebration of life ' for those who have lived a life worthy of emulation and died at a good age. However I feel a different day should be set aside for that. Not turning funeral ceremonies into birthday parties of some sort.
