Seasons greetings fellow nairalanders, I have come to seek solution for a problem that wants to lead me to depression.

My story goes this way;
When I was in primary school, what was reigning among the parents in my school then was encouraging their wards to stop at primary 5 and jump to secondary school. And that exactly was my case (I jumped primary 6 to secondary school) which made me not to write the First School leaving Certificate (FSLC) exam.

During our WAEC registeration in SS3 was when I told our counsellor about it (that I didn't sit for FSLC exam) and she shouted and encouraged me to go to a nearby primary school and register for it.
My mum and I did as the counselor instructed and registered for the FSLC exam the same year I registered for my WAEC. The headmaster argued that I'm too old to write the exam thus my younger sister wrote it for me.

Now I'm a University graduate (completed my Nysc).
A family friend gave me a replacement slot in one federal parastal and when I submitted my credentials to her, she noticed that my FSLC and waec are of the same date. She complained about it and told me that I may encounter problem on the way (ie that the recruitment may not be successful or that I may have issues in future even if I'm finally recruited. I was depressed after hearing that.

So I came here to seek for advice and clarification from people that are already in the system. PLEASE HOW CAN I ESCAPE BEING SCREENED OUT EITHER NOW OR WHEN I'M FINALLY EMPLOYED?

Pardon my typos. Insults are allowed.

No need for FSLC. No one needs it from u. Submit your WASCE and other certificates after that.

go to any old government school, pay 2k to get a FSLC. They will back date it to any date you want.

First School Leaving Certificate is a requisite foundational requirement for every job seeker.
You didnt fly into secondary school. The Common Entrance Exams gives you placement into the next level of education.

To op, its tough. Some organization will find fault while some may overlook.
I doubt that a federal agency will overlook this your case.

Try luck

Go to any small LEA primary school and talk with the head master. It's a small issue. He'll arrange a back-dated one for you for a fee.

Small challenge

Something wey 3k go solve grin

Back in the days as a job seeker I had like 3 sef, plus like 4 birth certificates.

If you are shy of going to a school then go to court and get sworn affidavits...

All these lazy job seekers sef, ordinary school leaving certificate you cannot solve, are you sure you are up to the task of the federal government job?

You should be behind bars by now. You don't have little sense in you. You are coming on a public forum to say someone wrote exams for you. Impersonation is a criminal offence.

This is why sometimes it's not good to cut corners. Your Mum did more harm than good. I am not sure if any Headmaster or Headmistress can help because FSLC is been issued by from SUBEB.

From experience they don't normally lay emphasis on fslc, once you are capture into ippis that's all. U can go are retify the rest before verification started and in many case is only restricted to people posted to abj, so work ur posting out of abj and lay low till you get ur fslc. They may not even ask for it throughout ur 35 yrs of service unless you get to a director ship position and other competitor want you disqualified they may bring that up therefore zip up ur mouth while you look for a way to resolve that. Just calm down and do ur thing low key

You impersonated to get the FSLC through your younger sis, you jumped class 6, you also want to get a new federal job through the back door with the help of an aunt, yet a genius like you cant figure out what to do with this little challenge.

Bro you have been exceptional all along. Its in you... Figure it out.

Do this as quick as possible cos the federal government values FSLC more than your degree

This is not correct sir.

While I can't speak for federal govt agencies, a lot of other organizations do not require fslc for employment. The primary purpose of fslc in my opinion, is to estimate your age, but this is stated in the waec certificate thus making it unnecessary. The argument of- 'did u fly to secondary school' does not hold water. U wouldn't have gained admission to sec sch if u were unfit for it, and u certainly wouldn't have passed waec to progress into university.

@ Op: I suggest u submit ur application without the fslc. The irregularities in dates should be enough grounds to disqualify u so why provide it.

OP you're truly not smart or maybe over pampered. Which one be " My Mum and I did as the councillor said"
Always Mummy! Mummy !! .. I hope you know that work place is a different world entirely.
So if you're applying for Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship, which you need to submit all the documents in this world, its your Mummy that will drop you off teaching hospital for full medical report, drop you off your Secondary school to get recommendation letter, drop you off you University to huzzle your transcript, drop you off education ministry to get clearance, drop you off your Primary school to get this same FSLC.
Grow up young man!!!!!
FSLC issue is one of the smallest challenge you should be able to solve without a itch if you're truly ready for the task ahead In this life.

Are you sure you graduated from a university truly?

This isn't enough to cause a depression neither should it worry you at all.

As people have earlier said, go to your primary sch and get it asap. But since you have gotten it but the date is the issue, go give some change and let them backdate it.

Very easy work!

This country is finished. See the thinking and mentality of leaders of tomorrow sad

You now see the importance of adequate data and record. This is the reason US government, under Donald Trump banned Nigerians from immigrant visa category. We don't have record of our citizens and the stages they passed through.

See how people were shamelessly advising the OP to go to one school, obtain one and back date it. Corruption is taken as a way of life. undecided

We are all corrupt. We shout corruption and blame people for corruption when we are not a direct beneficiary.

no big deal in this, look for any primary school that you know it is a old school, liaise with headmaster and explain your ordeal to him or her and if he or she is a nice person, you will be given a testimonial and case closed

Brotherly, any government either state or FG requires FSLC. It is a must. You pointed out the obvious which is now affecting OP.

In time past, people like OP are in civil service. They use it in reducing their age. That's why you still see over 70yrs men/women in the Civil Service. That sole requirement has reduced age cheat in government employment.

Therefore, it a must in the public sector. In the private sector, they have the prerogative and discretion
