General Yakubu Gowon was in the OAU meeting in Kampala, Uganda when he heard the news of the new military government in Nigeria. Just thinking out loud, how was he able to cart away with the money? Please let's be logical here.

Gowon couldn't have stolen so much money. He managed wartime without borrowing. He became an indigent student in the UK where he went to after being overthrown in a coup. I remember his picture taken at Warwick while on a queue to get his food. He's never been flamboyant and he hasn't shown any signs of substantial wealth since then till date. Besides, he would have been investigated and tried all these years. Probably the young MP is confusing him with Abacha who helped us keep our money.  |
