There are only 2 countries in Africa that have military edge over Nigeria; Egypt and South Africa. Other countries do not even ¢☺♏Σ close, people talk about Libya a country that have a military that lost all †ђε wars it intervened in e.g Niger Republic Toyota war, they fought on †ђε side of Idi Amin against tanzania and lost, supported Charles tailor in Liberia and lost: and several border incidence along her borders. Check out weapons used during their civil war and you will see that they are mostly basic military weapons that any tiny or poor country have; why is it that Egypt and South Africa have better military than Nigeria? 1. Usa finance egpyt military up τ̅☺ over $1b annually and egyppt add τ̅☺ it τ̅☺ finance it and we know that ain't a small military budget, they also have over 300,000 well trained solders. 2. South Africa have over 10% of its population as whites who manufacture almost all their weapons and have fought successfully on fronts outside their border before †ђε collapse of apartheid. ♏y people both countries have huge military budgets which gives them more edge but note that they still fear Nigeria because our soldiers especially army are said τ̅☺ be very Ĝ∞∂ fighter that fight τ̅☺ †ђε end whatever they have. †ђε Nigerian military have fought a civil war at home, enforce peace in Liberia, fought on chad and cameroon borders and been on peace keeping mission around †ђε world, so they have †ђε experience τ̅☺ fight any invader but they need more men and better equipments: I asked ♏y boss who is a retired senior officer about this topic and he replied “ Nigeria has not external military treats so we don't need τ̅☺ be wasting money on weapons. |

Against western and rising eastern powers no African country can last long. I mean one American Aircraft carrier battle group would be enough. Against local threats. She could hold her ground even if all the counties surrounding her attacked. Whether she this causes her to collapse has the hard fighting(it will be hard if they all step in) weakens her. Or units the people has they unite has one Nigeria is hard to say. Other African powers. Dividing africa up you get 4 regional powers. Nigeria in the west (civil war) South Africa in the south. Has it is currently right now The SANDF could not invade. But it could cause damage to Nigeria's crude oil based economy. Doing some prediction this will not change. The SA navy will remain the dominant navy in sub shara africa. Land invasion will still be impossible even with a LHD or 2. Another rising power in the south is Angola. With a strong oil based economy they may become a threat. There Air force if it can operate from country nearby Nigeria would be more than a big threat. There army is smaller but of similar quality. Has it stands there Navy is no threat. Give a few year Angola may become the next African nation regional power. East africa is occupied with somalia a Sudan so no current threat. Some projection. Still no threat unless they can invade from the land ward side. In the north there is Egypt. They would have to fight the same way SA would and they have strong neighbors and a volatile population so they can not send a massive force. Libya. While not now(duh) but they may become the next western back oil nation. Algeria. Can't say any thing about the army and air force(because I don't know any thing right now) but there navy is expanding so they could all so destroy nigeria's crude oil economy. Though war with these nation is less than low right now the world can change fast. Nigeria should improve its navy only one true surface war ship will not present a threat. |
