Our meditation today shall centre on how to become influential, such that you control things and events.

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
– James 5:17-18

There is one secret to possessing the power to influence people, circumstances and events; it is the power of prayer. Prayer is a communication from human to God. It is the greatest source of power available to man when backed by the name of Jesus.

Prayer offers us the leverage to control the attitude and disposition of fellow humans as well as dictate the direction of events and circumstances. With prayer, we can court the favour of God and man, we can institute what we want to be or nullify what don’t want. Prayer is the inroad to the supernatural. It gives you access to divine help and abilities.

A vibrant prayer life sets one apart from those who only pray occasionally or do not pray at all. Oftentimes, those who can pray soar while those who do not pray struggle; those who pray win while those who don’t pray are known to whine; prayer makes one prevail over all situations, while prayerlessness makes one a ready prey.

The passage above talks about Elijah, who decreed that there would be no rain in the land of Israel for a number of years, except he decreed otherwise, and it was so. And when he was ready to release rain upon the land, he also prayed fervently and rain fell after a period of drought. That is a testimony to the power of prayer. It makes you a dictator of a sort.

There are innumerable examples in the Bible and contemporary times of people who have prevailed over unfavourable circumstances by praying. Majority of the frustrations and failures we see around can be traced to prayerlessness. A popular maxim says, ‘Those who kneel before God can stand up to anything.’

You will succeed in Jesus Name!
