The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta Governor on security matters, Engr. Udoka Emmanuel Chika-dibie has resolved the election dispute involving youths of Ekpan community in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state. Chika-dibie who was in company of two Special Assistants to the Governor on Security Monday Oki and Wilson Alisi summoned the waring factions in Udumoto Quarters on Monday over a petition to the of Delta State Government to annul Chairmanship election recently held due to irregularities. Listening to the stakeholders who participated in the election and some of the observers, The Igwuvwie of Udumoto in their statement referred to the meeting held on the 21st of November 2020, where it was agreed that since the outgoing chairman was from zone B, the next Chairman should emerge from zone C. And the procedure was that, for one to be eligible to vote, the mother or father must be from Udumoto and must be resident in Ekpan. Again, such persons must be actively involved in Youth activities. Age bracket of eligible voters was drawn between 18-40yrs. In another meeting, two candidates were presented from zone C. 1. MR. UDJARA VICTOR 2. MR. GIFT MAJOGBAMU According to reports, The Unuevworo of Ekpan Chief Peter Iffie, Ogwuvwie of Ekpan Mr. Jacob Eshaberi, The Ekpan Development Committee Chairman Mr. Stephen Akemu, Women (Egwoyare) and youths asked if anyone among the two candidates were ready to step down for another, they both refused and asked the electoral committee to continue as no one was ready to step down. Chief Akiefe Adjenughure said that since no one was ready to step down, that they were left with no option than to conduct the election. 38 persons were Accredited and two disqualified because they are serving Executive members of the outgoing excos. 36 persons went into the election in an open secret format before the Military personnels present, the Unuevworo, the Igwuvwie, Women and youths and: 1. MR. UDJARA VICTOR Scored 12 votes 2. MR. GIFT MAJOGBAMU scored 24 votes and was declared winner. According to the senior Ogwuvwie, Joseph Ukwesa, Joseph Ikuku, Efevwobane Adjenughure and Mrs. Patricia Usoro's petition was because their intention to field strangers in the election hit the brick wall, they became disgruntled and sought annulment of a transparent election. After listening to all the stake holders involved, the state Government representatives headed by the senior special Assistant to the Governor on security matters Engr Udoka Emmanuel Chika-dibie in company of Special Assistants to the Governor on security Monday Oki and Wilson Alisi upheld the election of Gift MAJOGBAMU.
