Why are you being mischievous? Where did you take the screenshot from? And why is your false representation of Sokoto calipate including parts of Yoruba land and other Middle belt minority kingdoms?

At what point in history does your false picture depict? Did you know at some point in history the Dahomey kingdom your picture excluded from Oyo Empire, was a tributary to Oyo itself? And what is parts of Kwara doing in the picture?

And can you provide documented proof of the so called "Aro confederacy" you smuggled into the picture? Thank you in advance.

The Around Confederacy were villages of 5 huts each scattered round the forest cheesy so that makes it hard for the British to wipe them out in a day.

See the stu.pid map he spreading about now. Does that look like 5 villages to you? They even had the guts to include Ijaw kingdoms in their rubbish.

Same map added north Central kingdoms to Sokoto calipate! Some people misconstrue the influence Hausa language has in the north with Sokoto calipate.

Sokoto calipate is a Fulani thing, and the spread of Hausa language in Northern Nigeria and other parts of Africa was the work of great Hausa men like Mansa Musa.

Rubbish!

I don't know if you're on Facebook, but if you're, you need to check one of the Ogiamiens named Igbinazaka Ogiesuyi. He's given the Benin revisionists and Ekaladerhan people sleepless nights.

Those guys are really giving the dull Bini 1970-revisionists a hard time.

I’ve seen some of their YouTube videos. I like how they’ve refused to be bought over and how they have proven to be true sons of the soil.

But the only area where I disagree with them is their persistence that the Oba people should leave and return back home to Ife.

I mean, that would be really hard. No wonder the Oba people have been insisting otherwise. grin

I will also check out the Facebook video you recommended. Thanks!

Well, considering how they reason (and how they conduct themselves generally) they must be teenagers — so, somewhere between the ages of 13 and 19 is my best guess.

The map is actually rather accurate as it represents the political state of Africa in 1880, I just focused on West Africa.

Dahomey Revolt 1823: the Oyo army sent by Oba Alaafin Majotu was categorically wiped out by the forces of King Gezo of Dahomey, thus ending Oyo's hegemony in the region. Alpern, S., 1998. Amazons Of Black Sparta. 2nd ed. [Place of publication not identified]: C. Hurst & Co., p.166.
Therefore by 1880 Dahomey had not been a province of the Oyo kingdom for 57 years.

Kwara was formally part of the Oyo kingdom, until General Afonja rebelled and with the help of the Fulani's and local Muslim populations formed the Ilorin Emirate. Upon its formation power switched to Emir Abdusalami dan Salih Alimi -a Fulani- who's reign saw the IIorin Emirate become a vassal of the Sokoto Caliphate. Lovejoy, P., 2004. Slavery On The Frontiers Of Islam. 2nd ed. Princeton: Markus Wiener Publishers, p.55.
The vassal state of IIorin continued to expand in the 1830's until it was halted at Ibadan where its borders remained relatively the same until 1897 when it was annexed by the Royal Niger Company.

Aro-Chukwu which lasted from 1690 - 1902 had the largest monopoly on trade (mostly slaves) within eastern/southern Nigeran and parts of west Cameroon. Please note that this was a "confederation" not an empire or kingdom so don't get confused. The map simply shows the area under the influence of the Aro-Chukwu trade monopoly. [s]Shut the Bleep up, you dimwitted sub-slowpoke! Ekiopagha treaty is about Oba of Benin (the foreigner) paying rent to the Ogiamien, the real owners of Igodomigodo and descendants of the Ogisos. Your Oba is not a descendant of the Ogisos. If he were, "Ogie" would be his title, not Oba. If he were, his praise names wouldn't include "Ikeji Orisha" or "Ovbi Adimula." And no where did I claim that the Ogiamiens were "superior" to the Oba of Benin, you lying clown! I only claimed they are the real descendants of the Ogisos, and that's a fact. Still waiting for you to tell me what the Ekiopagha treaty is all about though.[/s]
Tears, tears and more tears...

If the Ogiamen really leased a land to the Oba, why isn't he brave to show us the boundary of the land leased? Because its a lie

Ikeji orisha don't mean anything in Benin and I don't expect Benin chiefs to speak a word as praise especially when they don't know the meaning

Lastly the Ogiamen are not the descendants of Ogiso...

Keep bringing ur tears... U have not even been able to answer a single question and u allow someone that doesn't even rule his area in sakponba road to be deceiving u

Ikeji Orisha doesn't mean anything in Benin, same way Oba doesn't mean anything in Benin, "Ikeji Orisha" is part of the praise names of your Oba, same way Oba is also your King's title. I am not "black" I am mixed race of Igbo & English heritage.

I don't know why you people love to over exaggerate Benin's scope of influence.
Perhaps a small minority of independent Igbo villages west of the Niger paid tribute to the Oba's its likely, but the Igbos were not a united entity.
Talk case specific and stop saying Benin ruled everyone and their ancestors abeg angry
Next you will tell us that the ancient Egyptians also paid tribute...

What Benin Empire?!?!?
It was a kingdom get a grip man.

lack of firepower is no excuse for lack of resistance, Benin folded in 9 days... 9 freaking days
Anglo-Xhosa wars took 100 years to finally conclude.
The Anglo-Ashanti wars lasted for 76 years, ending at the beginning of the 20th century.
The Zulus wiped out the British at Isandlwana, worst defeat by the British at the hands of an inferior foe.
Anglo-Aro war lasted 1 year & yet the majority of Igbos still resisted British conquest.
Ekumeku resistance fought the British for 31 years.

Benin had many warriors but their tactics, superstition and leadership caused their quick demise.

You're wrong now lemme explain, benin was the most recognized african kingdom known by the Europeans and most feared and respected

The Anglo - ashanti war was an attack and a counter attack, it was not a war intentionally intended by the British to surpress the ashanti as a colony, it was a battle of dispute between the British and ashanti people, it was in 1897 the British finally opted for ashanti colonialism, it was no play as usual, few months after benin fell, ashanti fell too guess what?
the mechinery leftover used in conquering benin was what was used for ashants and they fell

Who are the soldiers the British used in defeating ashanti, hausa service men recruited from northern part of nigeria, those soldiers just finsh defeating benin months later

The benin British war was the first war benin had with European and the binis were taking by surprise, it was a war for colonization and not that of dispute, the war was official the military weapons used in defeating benin was the one used in sacking ashanti,

Note : the British never undermined benin military power, they prepared for it, the British didnt even have the money for military weapons but they found away out, letter was written from the niger coast to Britain for militarily equipments to storm benin, weapons from cape coast i.e south africa were gathered to fight in benin, a British submarine ship was involved too named after ovaremwen , the military power the British used in fighting benin was far more than that of the ashanti and xhosa war

The war lasted 3 months, not 9 days, guerrilla warefare continued for extra 2yrs

When you read the anshanti-anglo war, one thing you will deduce from the war is insult by the British people on the ashanti culture which prompted those short wars those insult never occurred in benin

Note again
Just imagine some foreigners coming to insult your kingdom by taking your colony, dictating trade, boundaries for you( ashanti), the British force practically insulted the anshantis and double dare them, all the ashanti did was to react To it, by waging war most of the war they fought Couldn't or even surpress the British forces

As for the xhosa, how do you win a war and yet you were still colonize by the people you defeated if you have defeated them you should have ruled over them and colonized them instead

I repeat again the military weapon used to bring bini down is far greater than that of those two shunnis you mentioned up there, and the intentions was direct to colonize

Ibo guy go sit down darty they your eye
