In an official statement released by Google, Google announced that it is shutting down Poly, its 3D platform launched in Nov. 2017. According to Forbes, the website will officially shut down on June 30, 2021, but users won’t be able to upload models beginning on April 30, 2021.

“After June 30, poly.google.com and associated APIs will no longer be accessible,” the statement reads. “You will not be able to upload new 3D models on poly.google.com after April 30, 2021.”

The platform allowed users to upload, browse, and distribute 3D content created using tools like Tilt Brush and Blocks.

Users will be able to download their entire libraries at the link: takeout.google.com/settings/takeout/cus…, or users “can download individual assets by viewing each asset’s page.”

Poly was an important part of the immersive landscape when it launched, fostering an open creative commons for creating and remixing 3D content and scenes, from hot dogs to Star Wars.
