The three children who were found dead in a car at Ugwu Ogede in Itchi, Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of in Enugu State, have been laid to rest, IgbereTV reports.

Bodies of the three children were found in a car parked at the home of a retired police officer on Monday, November 23.

The victims identified as Chibugo Eze, Chinenye Eze, and Ebuka Ene, were reported missing after they went to fetch water at a commercial borehole owned located at the home of the former police officer. Two other children named Kingsley Eze, and Mmasichukwu were found barely conscious and rescued from the same car.

The children were buried on Wednesday, December 2.

Martins Ezekwesili, the Administrative Secretary at Mbamili Diocese, who shared photos from the funeral, said there has been no official report from the Enugu state police command on the outcome of their investigation.

"THE DISCOVERED DEAD KIDS IN NSUKKA, ENUGU STATE.

INTRODUCTION
"On Sunday, 22nd November 2020, by 9am, 5 children had set out to fetch water at a compound at Itchi, in Igbo-Eze South LGA, (in Igbo Nsukka) Enugu state. When the they couldn't return, people went to search for them. Their wheelbarrow and containers were seen in the compound where they went to fetch the water.

"The search for the children lasted throughout the night of that Sunday until 3am on Monday when searchers retired, to start the search in the morning. It was in the morning of the Monday, 23rd that these children (below 11 years) were found in a car packed in the same compound where they had gone to fetch the water. 3 of the 5 children had died, while the remaining 2 were very weak.

"The police was alerted immediately, who took the dead bodies and the surviving ones. It was transferred to Enugu state police headquarters and to Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Enugu police command for investigation.

"Till today, no official report from the Enugu state police command on the outcome of their investigation. The dead bodies of the kids have been released for burial which took place today, Wednesday, 2nd December, and that's the end of the innocent children.

MY PERSONAL OPINION ON THE ISSUE

"These kids belong to the society, the church, the traditional authorities, the police and the state.

"Perhaps, the traditional authorities, individuals of the affected communities (Nkalagu-Obukpa and Itchi), the church, the Igbo-Eze South LGA authorities might have done their best to see that the cause of the death of these kids was unraveled, but I still believe they need to do more.

"If this had happened to counselors of the local government, or priests of the church, or to a traditional ruler (Igwe) or affluent individuals of the society, there would have been serious investigation to the case. That's when you would understand how powerful the church is. They would send lawyers and barristers"

It is obvious somebody is hiding something. The survivors said they were locked in the car by some men in red cloth who later came at night but couldn't open the door so they left. This means they were all there till the second day.
How did they survive?
Why didn't the men break the door to take them away since they are suspected ritualists?
How come during the dry season, people didn't come to fetch water till the second day?
The person who saw them claimed her name was called. Called from a bolted car?
Someone said one of the survivors had confessed having a hand in it. Maybe hide and seek play gone wrong. Maybe the acclaimed survivors locked them there.

Imagine these men being at home on a Sunday morning while their underage children are pushing wheelbarrows with containers of water!
Are under ten children supposed to be pushing wheelbarrows with containers of water about while their parents are at home?
Please don't say the parents were busy doing something else, this is child abuse.

Truth is, itchi is one of the backward town in the whole of Igbo eze south despite having prominent sons like IDEKE Nsukka and co. Plus one term chairman of Igbo Eze South.
