This is not a US government food giveaway program, these are private initiatives created by private groups with donations from the public to help the poor, the hungry and people without access to food.

If you are going to argue, at lease start with knowledge and credible info.

thanks for that but we let's stick to what started all this, can most Americans afford 50kg of rice?

If you are willing to spend hours in line to put food in your stomach because you can not afford to buy food, then you cannot afford 50kg bag of rice.

don't pretend you all are aware Americans don't like to cook because they are always on the road, from one work place to another so canteen is their option. COVID-19 have closed down many canteens, it doesn't imply they are broke and can't buy rice.

The orderliness of these Americans alone speaks of a nation that appreciates the well being of its citizens.Did Nigerian government do this during the COVIK-19 scamdemic? How many billions were embezzled because of palliatives?

Where Americans are going hungry

BY AIMEE PICCHI

UPDATED ON: MAY 21, 2018 / 5:04 PM / MONEYWATCH

Food insecurity -- or not having enough food because of a lack of money or other resources -- is a way of life for almost 1 in 8 Americans. And that rate remains higher than before the recession, when the numbers were slightly more than 1 in 10, according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Americans and the American government agreed and admitted that they have hunger issues and poor Americans without access to food, but you sitting here in Nigeria is saying Americans are wrong and lying?

Do you people sitting in Nigeria know more than Americans and the American government?

You people need to read and educate yourselves sometimes.

Each year the Department of Agriculture runs a nationwide survey to determine how many people go hungry. The latest figures show almost 6 percent of households – about 18 million people – are consistently not getting enough to eat. Another 8 percent – 30 million people – have occasional problems feeding themselves.

Altogether, about 14 percent of U.S. households – roughly 48 million people or one in seven Americans – go hungry at some point during the year, and not because they are trying to lose weight. This number actually underestimates the problem because the survey excludes the homeless and transients, groups that almost by definition lack enough food.

According to the American government, 48 million people are hungry and without access to food.

If you are willing to go and cue for hours because you can not afford to buy food, so where are you going to get money for 50kg of rice?

Is the reason you are standing in line for hours to put food in your stomach because you can not afford to buy food in the first place.?

Your post betrayed common sense and basic human sense of reasoning and logic, it's even stewpid on epic proportions.
