Christianity has nothing to do with nepotism!
The first century Jewish carpenter (Joseph) played his part as Jesus' foster father, he often teach his children God's word as commanded by the law {Deuteronomy 6:4-7} he use to take them to visit the temple for the Passover as God instructed his people {Luke 2:41} obviously this wonderful Jewish carpenter died when Jesus has not began his ministry.
So back to your question.
Why was the gospel silent over his life afterwards?

Jesus was never Joseph's biological child and his work was to gather the first fruit of God's kingdom (the 144,000 corulers who will join him in ruling the earth) so all his ministry was about this limited number, that's why he told his followers that Mary (his biological mother) will not be blessed if she doesn't become one of his followers {Matthew 12:46-49} eventually Mary happens to be a woman who always keep to heart all the events having to do with spirituality! Luke 2:51
Though at a point in time she also felt Jesus has gone mad {Mark 3:21} because her son never took step to marry when he got to the age as the custom of the Jews back then, rather Jesus was going from house to house, village to village and city to city preaching and teaching without collecting anything in return!
But before Jesus' final moments amongst the Jews Mary began putting faith in her son as the promised Messiah (Christ) so Jesus who knew that after his resurrection only his followers will be privileged to see him {John 14:19} quickly told John (Apostle) to take Mary home as his own mother {John 19:26-27} apparently this means that none of Jesus' brothers {Matthew 13:55} put faith in him at that time so they must have excommunicated their mother who is now a believer in Jesus (that was what the religious teachers back then asked the Jews to do for anyone who profess Jesus as the Christ) John 9:22
When God's holy spirit descended from heaven as Jesus foretold Mary was amongst the Christians who were baptized with God's holy spirit {Act 1:12-14, 2:1-4} by then two of his brothers "James and Jude" have accepted Christianity, and they were also privileged to take part in writing God's inspired word! Jude 1:1

So we hope to see Joseph (Jesus' foster father) during the resurrection of the dead here on earth but Mary and Jesus' two brothers who became born again Christians will never come back to live with us on planet earth, they are part of the 144,000 born again Christians {Revelation 14:1} who will rule with Jesus in heaven {Revelation 20:6} and forever that will be their home! John 14:1-4 compared to 1Thessalonian 4:16

Did any of Gods prophet in the old testament ever say that the messiah will be a demi god ? Did they ever say he was coming as a sin sacrifice. The idea of a messiah in judaism is different from the romans/greek idea..a messiah means an annointed king like solomon or david.

Why would the geneology of jesus be traced through joseph when he is not related to jesus by blood.. the whole new testament smells of fogery...

Should he have been made a god among men instead?
Look at the case of Mary, His mother. Little is also known of her but we know humans have made a god of her. Is that what you wonder should have happened to Joseph as well?

Nothing of Joseph or belonging to Joseph is in Him.
