B4 u start making money from programming, first you have to develop your passion for the art. For instance when u encounter bugs in your codes n struggle to debug, only your passion will fuel your enthusiasm to forge on. My two cents.

I know alot of people that got into programming and similar branches for the sole aim of making money/improving there lives and guess what? They are doing absolutely fine.

You just have to understand that this decision requires alot of hardwork and patience. While some people here may have a contrary opinion, i believe this field is one of the trending fields where you find millions of people there solely for the financial gain. Yes, alot will drop out, alot will not be patient enough to diversify their knowledge of programming and try to market the little they have learnt but this is secondary.

Having the passion to acquire knowledge is no guarantee you will succeed or work hard for it. While passion is important, success boils down on many other factors like self discipline, motivation, determination etc sometimes excluding passion itself.

These days people from other fields and major even learn programming to varying degrees for different reasons, like to improve their C.V, to stand-out or be able to offer more to potential employers, even to secure better positions etc

While there are disciplines that passion is very important in the start and long run esp medical line, I say passion should not be a sole decider in certain fields.

Some people dont even know what they have a passion for, rather than sit around waiting for mr. Passion to come knocking or jumping from pillar to post, set goals and challenge yourself to do more.

I have been trying to put together some lines of code and run it in my brain for a week now.
Just put passion first, if not you will be frustrated out of it.

Do it for whatever reason you want to do. It doesn't matter

For money?

For passion?

its all the same to many-faced god

However it isn't a get-rich-quick scheme. Its hard work, lots of hard work, studying, tutorials, documentation, experimenting... some times your code just don't work and you don't know why, very frustrating.
Its not an easy road and before you start getting paid, it'll take months, if not up to a year as competition is steadily rising.
In fact if you're not good enough to impress people with your work, you won't ever get paid.

Aside all the pessimism above, it is very rewarding.

Very true. The job is there for the highly talented

Real coders won't do that. Programming is different from template editing.

not really, but it should be part of why you are doing it.
it's really the passion to solve problems and the money that will be gained after solving the problem

You go out, you explore. See, personally, I was guilty of this. A lot of us just hear that there is money in programming, jump in, sit at home and expect manner to fall from above. Please don't get me wrong, you can sit at home and get a nice idea, but how often and what are the chances?
Go out, meet people, especially in other fields, when you engage in discussions, you will learn their problems, digitize them to ease their work. That's how you solve problems.

Cheers!
